What do you call a monk swinging a bat in the rain?

A wet batter fryer.

It's about time this thread got started.

Look at Duda --- hanging in the cleanup spot against the lefty.

Wearing the slugging 21 proudly.

Hey, yesterday was my 5th IGT, and I lost the others. I forgot I was supposed to keep posting.

Yay Radley with a nice pick to end the first, and a single to start the Met second. Perhaps the young man has turned a corner with the departure of his erstwhile mentor?

give up two, score two (could've been three if Hairston tagged up better)

Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

Not that he should have caught either of those shots, but Hairston definitely showing his limitations as a defensive outfielder this game.
Last night too, there were several balls that a good OFer might have stolen that fell in.

One run back on the Pagan kaboom!

Followed by back to back singles by Turner and Wright.

Bud Black goes to the lefty to face Duda.

Do you go Evans?

Expecting quiet from an Izzy inning hasn't worked out of late for me. I think I'm going to start out expecting failure, so as to be pleasantly surprised by anything else.

Two straight games of (mostly) clean innings from Izzy (last night = one single but erased with a GiDP) so he faced the minimum and got a 'W' and an 'S' out of it.

Boy this game was all about the DooDoo bunt. If he doesn't get it down, we might prolly lose this thing.

Well, that and Pagan's recent powa streak.

JCL--yes about the bunt. Good call tonight from Terry and a good job by Duda who probably hasn't bunted very often.

Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

I'm giving my credit to Dudabides for getting it down, more than to Collins for calling it. Good call, as it worked, but... I don't think any of us are saying that if he pops it up.

Also, a few drops of beer to David for tagging up as the trailing runner, as well as to Evans for hitting it far enough for that additional opportunity.

Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

Collins says now that Duda offered to bunt.

bmfc1
Aug 09 2011 08:27 PM
Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

He "offered"? As if he has a choice? Perhaps Terry meant he asked "should I bunt."

Yes, good points about Evans and D. Wright, too. Team effort tonight.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2011 08:33 PM
Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

According to Terry, it was:

"Should I bunt here?"

"Can you do it?"

"Yeah, I can get it down."

"Then go ahead."

He had one successful sacrifice bunt in 2,219 professional trips to the plate going into tonight. Gutsy of him to offer, I think.

Houston beating Arizona, 4-1, in the fourth

Milwaukee and St. Louis tied at three in the sixth.

Marlins helping nobody, down 3-0 to Atlanta after seven.

Re: IGT 8/9/11 Padres @ Mets

Elias: Last time the Mets won two straight games overcoming 2-run deficit in 8th inning or later in each game was April 23-24, 1965 at SF.

The Mets trailed the Giants, 8-2, heading to the eighth on April 23, before scoring two in the eighth, four in the ninth and one in the 11th inning for an 9-8, 11-inning win…On April 24, the Giants scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to grab a 6-4 lead but the Mets responded with three runs in the ninth to win 7-6…New York trailed 8-4 heading to the eighth inning last night and was trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth tonight…Please credit Elias for the research.

Man, the Padres are terrible. Nice effort by the Mets regardless. I'm beginning to think that I could live with Duda in right next year.
