Desperate Run Tracker

David Wright is gonna make a desperate run for MVP.

David Wright, hitting the DL on May 15: .226 / .337 / .404 // .741.

David Wright, coming off the DL on July 22: .226 / .337 / .404 // .741.

David Wright, one bloody week later: .268 / .354 / .464 // .818.

Smoly smokes. Twleve RBI on the week. Twelve hits in five games. We should DL him more often.

Stress fracture in the lower back? Nothing personal trainer Molly Beers can't handle.

I'm starting to think that maybe his declining performance the last year or so was due to a steadily degrading back problem and was finally serious enough to get proper attention.

I am Fran Healy-confident that Molly Beers is miles out of the picture by now.

Let's all hope that David can maintain this torrid pace next week when the Mets resume their Citi Field portion of the schedule.

Yeah, no matter how good Wright is over the next 2 months, it seems he would have a hard time catching up to Jose as the Mets representative in MVP talks.

If Wright continues to play so well that he McReynoldses Reyes' also-torrid MVP campaign, we'll probably be pretty happy about how the season ends up.
