Paul Collins:

Jersey Shore guys tended toward Beretism before becoming Bandanamen

Kim Wilson and Paul Collins. Both excellent. I couldn't find any of Nils Lofgren. Jersey Shore guys also all wen through a pimp hat period.

Pat DiNizio, although he'd also qualify for the Fedora Rockers.

Re: Beret Rockers

Yeah, it's funny when you see guys like Briley and Lofgren and (at least then) Mick Jones with perfectly cromulent (even cool) heads of hair so badly in need of an affectation that they lump themselves in with these guys hiding the obvious.

Carlos Santana showing true commitment to the cause, rocking the beret while wearing a tee-shirt in honor of a guy rocking the beret:

It seems Prince didn't wear a raspberry beret.

Janet's not above a little paramilitary action among her frequent makeovers:

When you're 20 years old and on top of the world, you can wear anything you want to, dear, but not until you get out on stage and rock in that thing, can you be part of the team:

Speaking of blondies, Bob Welch wasn't the only Fleetwood Macker to do his thing in a beret, but Stevie's versions were these voluminous things that doubled as hair nets.

Three qualifiers, though (and I'm looking at you ladies skirting the rules with your fashionable flirty lids):

[list=1][*]Stepping out on the town and/or doing photo spreads is one thing (two things actually), but if you aren't actually taking the stage on occasion in your Guevara-ware, you're not a beret rocker.[/*:m]
[*]If there is any more than the merest hint of a brim on your headpiece, it's not a beret.[/*:m]
[*]If there's not the tell-tale apple stem on top, you're just not in uniform.[/*:m][/list:o]

Re: Beret Rockers

That's a knit cap on Taylor Swift, not a beret.

Re: Beret Rockers

I disagree at the notion that a woolen knitwear cannot constitute a beret, but I support in general the challenge to that photo. Despite the photo being described as a Ms. Swift in a beret, there is no seam delineating a flat top panel, and no evidence telltale apple stem.

And as previously stated, if she doesn't rock in a beret, she's not a beret rocker. The French have their standards.

He's singing about the girl who wore the raspberry beret, not himself
