This will be the last night game the Padres play at Citi this year.

David Wright needs two total bases to tie Eddie for the club lead.

This is the lineup

Angel Pagan - CF
Justin Turner - 2B
David Wright - 3B
Lucas Duda - 1B
Jason Bay - LF
Mike Baxter - RF
Josh Thole - C
Ruben Tejada - SS
R.A. Dickey - RHP

Bay vs. Harang (17-46, 5HR)
Wright - .667 (8-12, HR)

Here's another good milestone to keep an eye on. David Wright needs 33 RBI to tie Strawberry for the club record. Achievable this year.

Re: IGT 8/10/11 Padres at Mets

So evidently it's Dickey's turn to put us in a big hole to dig out of in the late innings.

Meanwhile on the bat front:
- 1st inning, two on/none out
- 2nd inning, three on/none out
And the only batter who came up in those situations who even got the ball out of the infield was Dickey and his wasn't far enough to do anything about it.
Wright = weak grounder which should have been a GiDP
Duda - K looking
Bay = weak grounder
Pagan = K looking
Turner = weak grounder

Nice showing guys.

We're snuffing out potential comebacks with great regularity here.

Safe and secure at second.

We need a knockout punch.

Re: IGT 8/10/11 Padres at Mets

We made him throw enough pitches over the first 4 innings - just didn't do enough with them.
Two potential Sac Flys and two hits w/RiSP produced a grand total of one run.

3 RBIs by the 6th inning but none by anyone in the starting eight (Dickey, Evans, Pridie)
That's got to be a fairly unusual occurrence.

Re: IGT 8/10/11 Padres at Mets

Kinda wish we had pinch-hit for Dickey when we had the bases loaded. What an opportunity we had then.

Then? NOW!! Two on and two out! Come on, Thole! Or Paulino! Or whoever!

Anybody still think that Parnell is the Mets closer for '12? Another pathetic outing by Parnell. Good for Terry for leaving Parnell in. It's his mess. The offense got 'em within 2 but that's a distant memory thanks to a AAAA pitcher.

Error by Forsythe brings us Willie Harris as the tying run. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, I'd be tempted to PH Hairston to see if he can crack one out.

Well, that sucked. Our inability to keep the Padres off the scoreboard this week has certainly made things difficult, as have some idiotic plays (Pagan's dumb throw, Tejada's failure to slide). Bottom line, Dickey and Parnell can't be giving up that much to the Padres.

Great seats tonight too.

Re: IGT 8/10/11 Padres at Mets

Was pagan yanked because of that lazy play out in centerfield? Or was it something else?

This was both a fun and frustrating game to be at. They kept making it interesting, and then totally screwing it up to make it uninteresting.

However, I was sitting next to a Greek couple who had never been (nor watched even) a game of baseball before. It was fun explaining it to them. At one point they said "we are going to have to pay you."

Re: IGT 8/10/11 Padres at Mets

The roster of culprits last night reads like a nearly complete list of who played:
- Duda - on the play where Parnell failed to touch first big Lucas started off the problem by once again ranging too far to get the ball. Turner had it easily.
- Parnell - aforementioned failure to touch 1st then holding on to the ball while the runner is trapped off 3rd, plus shitty relieving in general
- Turner - left a small island of folks stranded
- Tejeda - on the night he decides to hit he suddenly forgets to slide. Also had a possible out at home and a certain one at 3rd so he takes the one at 1st. That play let in one run and a subsequent single let in another.
- Bay - an oh-fer which killed his 11 game hit streak and several scoring chances
- Pagan - horrid throw, then quickly left the game so it looks like the bad back caused the throw
- Beato - not good
- Dickey - not good pitching (lots of early fastballs?!) plus his own error

Ummmm, Thole was good.

Several young ones still learning to play the game at this level , is that fair to say? Good to see Collins aided by Paulino talking over the non slide with Tejada in the dugout.

More Harris, I think, than Thole.

Baxter looked like he might have turned a double into a single but it probably wasn't a gimme so I'll let him slide on that one.

I have a hard time giving Duda grief here. He fielded it cleanly and made a good throw. Nothing Duda did caused Parnell to miss the bag.
