Viva Los Metsies while the TransMonks tie the knot.

Ron Roenicke's worst nightmare TK, though I think it's playing on the road.

You can see Collins, stacking the lineup with lefties, has done his homework on Marcum's splits:

vs RHB: .182 / .228 / .312 // .539
vs LHB: .275 / .331 / .425 // .756

Lucas Duda, we look to you.

We beat Marcum first time around by waiting him out and taking walks as I recall.

More or less. We never broke through against him, but the walks upped his pitch count, and Roeneke is as crazy as the rest of them, so he pulled his man after 108 pitches and we got through to the pen.

Nah, that's a shelving unit.

And I'll defend the lightsaber too; he said HIS would be green, but that would be Darth's, which is red.

What bailed us out in that game was a perfect 7th from Beato, a perfect 8th from Izzy, and a perfect 9th from Frankie
Haven't had too many of those lately.

And speaking of Frankie, I've barely followed him since his departure although I do know the Brews have been mindful of a calf soreness as the result of him legging out an infield single a week ago today. It was only his 2nd AB in the majors (his first coming earlier this year before the trade) so he's now a career .500 hitter. He's only pitched once since (the very next day) so not since last Saturday has he seen any action.

As for his role (looking it up) he's pitched 14 times since the deal and has finished exactly one game (NO VEST FOR YOU!!).
All of his other appearances have come in the 8th inning for one inning each time except for a single 1/3 of an inning outing (the one where he got the hit).
So to this point it's 14 games; 13.1 IP, 3 ER on 11 hits, 5 BBs & 18 Ks for a record of 3 Wins - 0 Losses - 0 Saves, plus a handful of (who gives a shit) Holds

Re: IGT 8/18/2011: MIL @ NYM -- Win One for the Monks

Really shitty performance by the Mets, but when you have only 3 credible major league regulars in the starting lineup, what do you expect to happen?

I really enjoyed Ryan Braun telling off the home plate umpire, especially as the ump had it coming, having shown up Corey Hart twice earlier in the game. When Roenicke didn't also get tossed, I took it as a sign that the ump knew the call was bad.

Fielder is a fantastic player and the Mets would do well to sign him and move Ike Davis to right field (Duda to left) but I think we all know that's not gonna happen. As for the bench-clearing incident, we're not throwing at you, moron.

Thoughts on rain delays at the park:
1. It's interesting to see how security remains moronic even at midnight with 2500 people in the park. I don't think they need to let people into the Sterling Club seats (don't worry, they won't) but guarding the first two rows behind each dugout as if people sitting there was a national security threat is idiotic. Why do you hate your fans?

2. It's easy to sneak into the Caesar's Club, and more difficult but still manageable to sneak into the Sterling and Acela clubs. But I cannot figure out a workable way to sneak into the Champions Club. Any ideas?

3. During the monsoon, security closed off the "Taste of the City" area to fans, yet you wouldn't believe the number of people who kept going up to ask if they could just pass through to get to the Shake Shack.

4. There are TONS of really nice flatscreen TVs in the Citi Field clubs and and the bars. So, during the rain delay, what do they put on them? A shot of what's on the scoreboard (ie. the rain delay message).

But on how many of the TVs in the bars/clubs is this message displayed, you ask? ALL OF THEM. Really.

They really can't be bothered to, I don't know, put the MLB Network on instead? Or perhaps pay for the Extra Innings package? Cheapskates.

You know it's not a good game when Craig Counsell is on base three times.
I think those three make it around five for him since the AS break.
