Re: I.G.T. 8/20/2011 Brewers at Mets

The Met fill ins have gone above and beyond the call of duty this season but look like a tired group.

Fielder is going to get oh so paid. Good! Might keep Reye's price down abit.

Pelfrey looks at Capuano and thinks "I'm not even that bad."

What? You have a problem with the Brews scoring five runs on only two hits?

Re: I.G.T. 8/20/2011 Brewers at Mets

Double by Tejada, Capuano up which means a chance for a PH to get the Mets closer. No, says Terry. Capuano rewards Terry by giving up another HR. I wonder if Sandy tried to get rid of Capuano and was turned down. This should be his last Mets start. Put him the BP. Waive him. I don't care.

Re: I.G.T. 8/20/2011 Brewers at Mets

Threat happening. Two singles, double, sac fly. Two runs home.

Problem was that we had no righties on the bench and Harris had to pinch-hit. Still, he got that sac fly.

Single by Pagan. First and third and Saito coming in to face Turner and Wright.

Got half a mind to send Duda up there for Turner.

Fortunately for us and Duda, Mike Cameron no longer patrols CF for the Brews as he catches that one standing up.

Jerry Hairston is an ersatz CFer.

Holy crap! I'm glad I kept the game on (with the sound off). Pagan's HR made me think of July 3, 2010 in DC when F. Rodriguez coughed up the game. This feels so much better.

BTW, did you notice that while Jose was beaming, Willie Harris was stoic?

I know that these guys aren't robots and that throwing a baseball 60 feet, 6 inches and trying to place it inside a rectangle isn't easy, but having said that how do you walk pieces of crap like Morgan and Kotsay?

Wright's groundout was harder hit than Fielder & Kotsay's singles put together ... but whatyagonnado?

The walks were the problem: both Izzy's & Capuano's

Re: I.G.T. 8/20/2011 Brewers at Mets

I was dining with my friend Ajmel last night --- a Brewer fan from the Milwaukee area. We got there first and he asked me if the Mets pulled it out. "I don't know," I answered. It was 7-6 when I left.

"Tied at seven when I left," he answered.

We had a lovely dinner with our lovely brides, each of us basking in separate but equal hopes. I had left Gameday running on my computer and I got home sat down and it showed what looked like a 9-7 final. I swear it looked final. I tuned to my wife and said, "Holy crap, they won!"

She semi-insincerely throws me a bone with "That's great, Honey!" I turn back to the screen as it refreshes to read 11-9. What the fuck! Refresh again! REFRESH AGAIN!!

Anyhow, before eliminating the negatives and scaling the positive points to 10, my Schaefer scorecard looked like this:

Pagan 13.24
Tejada 8.74
Thole 3.70
Duda 3.50
Beato 2.94
Parnell 1.73
Acosta 1.46
Turner 1.45
Baxter 1.15
Harris 0.93
Evans 0.34
Wright 0.05
Capuano -0.13
Pridie -0.80
Paulino -0.95
Bay -1.04
Hairston -2.95
Isringhausen -9.08

A week ago, Izzy was hinting that he wanted to maybe return next year but wouldn't play for a half mill again. I think Izzy needs to think seriously think about retiring before the week is out. Maybe throw him a junkyard inning so he can walk off with dignity. Maybe not.
