I had a mini-winning streak a week or so back and we are NOT going to lose 3rd place to these chumps.

Wang v Gee

Reyes - SS
Tejada - 2B
Duda - RF
Wright - 3B
Pagan - CF
Harris - LF
Evans - 1B
Thole - C

Bay apparently with a sore shoulder

Bay sitting cause of a sore shoulder, something that seems to have been bothering him for a good portion of this season.

Ummmm, we're still not hitting.
Fortunately, neither are they.
Scoreless in the 5th.

Ron has a thing for Ankiel, second day of slobbering over him.

Quiet round these parts.

I'm watching but I'm having trouble caring.

Re: IGT - Tuesday 9/13 -- Nats @ Mets

The defensive deficiencies of Duda on display in this inning -- not an error, but a leadoff bloop single that had a lot of air and is caught by probably 90% of ML OFers.
And then a two-out hit which never should have even come to bat ties the game and gets us into the pen sooner than you'd like.

One thing Terry's got to remember when he thinks about putting on the bunt sign ... the fact that our entire team suxx at it!
Including the pitchers.

You're right FK. They might as well concede the out and save us a few minutes.

Now we know Parnell doesn't pitch well in the seventh-inning, either.

Re: IGT - Tuesday 9/13 -- Nats @ Mets

Parnell will do great in ST when there's no pressure and will fool everybody again. I guess Terry forgot that Zimmerman got the GW hit off Parnell 10 days ago.

Um, what was up with that would-be DP Ankiel hit, though, JoseJose?

Another failed bunt. Way to get your money's worth out of that at bat, Reuben.

Here's a wacky idea: how about having Reyes steal?

It's like Collins is stuck in AngryDad mode re: bunting. ("We WILL get this right; I don't care if I have to give away 30 outs and 50 runs before we do, DAMMIT.")

I have a sneaking suspicion both managers are making a little buck-per-managerial-move secret bonus or something.

Leadoff walk to Reyes and he stays put. With each game, the positive opinion I had for Terry fades away.

They're handing this game away even worse than last night's.

It's one reason why the first 4 innings of this game took less than an hour and the next three have taken nearly two.

Re: IGT - Tuesday 9/13 -- Nats @ Mets

We're also going on about six innings of not getting a single fucking hit off one of their relievers!!
(OK, that's probably an exaggeration but it's close)

That's at least the 3d time this year that Storen struck out a Met to end a game with his slider. How come I know it's coming but the batters look surprised?

Well, there was the matter of the first two strikes on Duda. Nasty.

Re: IGT - Tuesday 9/13 -- Nats @ Mets

Just got home. Only was able to catch the bottom of the ninth in the car radio.
The guys in the booth also commented that the Mets hadn't gotten a hit off the bullpen until the ninth. Hagin belaboring the obvious "All the hits were off the starter".

From the box score, it looks like the losing run was put on by Thayer, but it was driven in off Parnell. Is that so? If they're grooming him to be an eighth inning guy or closer of the future, shouldn't he starting an inning?

was first and second two outs when they brought Parnell in. he gave a grounder through the hole. It was hard hit, but he wasn't exactly clobbered. Got the next guy, scoreless 8th. gave up a single in the 9th but got two outs. His velocity was all over the place. 95-96 a lot. seemed to throw some changeups, which is out of character, but he pitched well. I'm starting to worry that he might be a little burnt out, although most of the Mets look that way.
