I'll keep it simple, and the poll will remain open for three days.

Not a lot of times in history have the Mets lost a free 'gent that they were serious about keeping. Mike Hampton comes to mind as one.

I think that he'll leave, but anything is possible. I have a feeling that someone else will offer more cash, years or both...and Jose will go for the business move (as he is certainly entitled to do).

My vote was "I think that he'll stay."

Looks like I'm only one who's not bullshitting in this poll.

I hope he stays, I fear he's out of here. So, I have no idea...

I think that he'll stay.

Yeah, maybe it's my life, but I always bet on things staying the same, things staying the same.

I think that he would have been gone in July if Alderson didn't think he could sign him. Whether that ultimately means anything or not is an open question, but I'd bet a small amount that he stays.

Firmly in the "no idea" camp, just like dgw.

It's certainly got to help their ability.

Mets don't have the money. I think he's gone.

I don't know that that's true. They were saying the same thing about Mike Piazza in 1998, I recall.
|
Edgy MD Oct 07 2011 09:54 AM Re: Jose Reyes prediction poll |
Agreed. But I'd really like the Mets to prove it.

Hey Braun, STFU. You're distracting your team and stay out of our business.

shit, never really gave any thought to the Brewers , he'd be an intriguing option for them.
|
Frayed Knot Oct 09 2011 09:30 AM Re: Jose Reyes prediction poll |
Now we know why Braun wouldn't take the often-offered bait and knock Jose for sitting out that final game ... he was buttering him up!
|
MFS62 Oct 09 2011 10:43 AM Re: Jose Reyes prediction poll |
If the Mets do sign him, the next day Major League baseball will probably put his thyroid medicine on the banned substances list. That would be Selig's way of getting back at the Mets if he doesn't sign with the Brewers.

They also drew over 3 million fans this year (more than the Cubs, Dodgers or Mets). Fielder made $15 million this year through arbitration so if he leaves in free agency that's a big chunk of $$ freed up.
|
Frayed Knot Oct 09 2011 01:03 PM Re: Jose Reyes prediction poll |
On the opposite side of those arguments are that their local media dollars are still low compared to most teams, and part of Fielder's money will have to go into securing a new 1Bman.

I figured they go with Mat(t) Gamel.

No TV ownership/creative alternative-revenue streams means they're still playing at the big-kiddie table, financially.

It was really nice of the Phillies to set the market so crazy high with Ryan Howard before he done mangled himself.
