There's a setting here. It's the morning after the clinching night and subsequent party in 1986.

Somebody, or mulitiple somebodies, from the Scum Bunch are singing.

Wake up, Maggsie, I think I got something to say to you
It’s mid-September and Hernandez, he went down with flu
Johnson went and threw you a start
But Maggsie, you just had to get smart
Oh Maggsie you went and got three hits — almost four-or-or
Keith, he was a last-minute scratch
“Just stand on the bag, Dave, and catch”
But you showed us up and that’s what really hurt

The morning news, when it’s on your bed really makes it clear
We clinched the pennant but the story is this new guy here!
I know you’re still kind of dazed
But it’s time your ass got hazed
Oh, Maggsie, the bad guys won — that’s for sure-or-or
We won and we clinched at home
Thanks to the bat of some damned unknown
You stole the spot and that’s a pain we can do without

All we needed was a rook to sub for a boozy Keef
But you turned into a batter and not a wooden ladder and there’s our beef
Don’t try and find your clothes
Cause McDowell’s off burning those
And I wouldn’t go using that toothbrush — anymore-or-or
Knight used it on his feet
Then removed your brows with Neet
We’ve tied you up; you couldn’t leave here if you tried

I suppose we could collect your bats have ourselves a fire
Or Ben-Gay your jock like we used to do with Gardenhire
Backman’s gone and soiled your glove
It’s our way of showing our love
Oh Maggsie, you’ll wish you’d never seen your face
Teufel’s done a phone interview
He’s convinced the press he’s you
You stole the show but we love you anyways

Maggie you’ll wish you’d never seen your face
But you’ll get to do this to Jefferies, one of these… days

I hate when we have to guess.

Maggie May, by Rod Stewart, about Dave Magadan?

KC
Nov 16 2005 04:46 PM

Hey, it's not six yet?

Reading that, I may have to use my one hour and fifteen minutes to find
something worthy beside what is on my laptop.

I can't believe Edgy was playing the "Got nothin'" game!

DOLPHIN FACE
(a silly parody of Bruce's Glory Days based on Michael William Hampton

Our mammal friend was big baseball player
Clear View High School
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look and just drool boy
Saw him the other night on that TBS
Was walking 'em in and getting no outs
He went back inside, couldn't get no good sink
And all the crowd kept shoutin' out was

Dolphin Face, well time's passed you by
Dolphin Face, ya got no sink' and no slide'
Dolphin Face, Dolphin Face

Well let's go back a bit on the clock
On the 'stros he could turn all the fan's heads
In ninety-nine he won twenty-two and only dropped four
And then he got shipped to the Mets
He and the Mets went to The Series and then split up
I guess it's four years gone by now
Won the MVP in the NLCS
The fans say when they felt like crying
We start laughing thinking about

Dolphin Face, welll time's passed you by
Dolphin Face, ya got no sink' and no slide'
Dolphin Face, Dolphin Face

The mammals didn't sleep well at night
They had their New Yorker fill
And they lied and said something about the schools and shit
They made lots of bad will
Yeah, off to the Rock's trying to recapture a little of the glory of
The years slipped away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Silly stories of Dolphin Face

Dolphin Face, welll time's passed you by
Dolphin Face, ya got no sink' and no slide'
Dolphin Face, Dolphin Face
Dolphin Face, welll time's passed you by
Dolphin Face, ya got no sink' and no slide'
Dolphin Face, Dolphin Face

Edgy, I'll overlook that "wooden ladder" forced rhyme and say that was a pretty darn good song. Can't wait to see what KC has written.

EDIT: Looks like he just posted his parody. Lemmie look and vote.

I was in a hurry and I copied the topic from Willets v. Sharpie. I meant to edit it out but failed. This thread was born as "Willets v. Sharpie."

Great job.

7-1 after two hours, even I voted for you. I smell a rout.

(thanks to whoever posted the sympathy vote)

great efforts

the rhyme of Fire and Gardenhire is classic.

KC used the Boss, which gets some points, and Dolphin Face, which gets some Pool inside only joke points. Very nice.

KC takes three of the last four votes to pull within 8-4.

Good job both of you.

I say the same thing in every thread, this forum could kick any other's ass when it comes to parodies.

I had four more minutes there, wise guy.

Good luck in the next round.
