I was asked in another thread if I remembered Roger Breshanan. Of course, I don't remember him, as his career ended in 1915.

Wow. I guess any living World War I veteran would have to be at least 105 or so. I must have missed the thing about Johnny's uncle. I had no idea he had a living veteran of the first World War as an uncle.

Bob Murphy would have been very proud today. He used to call every opposing pitcher over 25 a veteran right hander or veteran lefthander.

According to that article there was still a Civil War vet alive until 1958 meaning he would have been able to see the start of the Civil Rights movement. Wow.

I remember stories about that Civil War guy. By the time he died he was one of the (maybe THE) longest living American.
