Harry Minor

A lot of longtime Mets employees have been disappearing of late, and longtime scout Harry Minor is joining Pete Flynn in retirement this offseason.

Harry was the national cross-checker in the late seventies and eighties, and greenlighted the Mets in signing Wally Backman, Gregg Jefferies, Darryl Strawberry, Lenny Dykstra, Mike Scott, Kevin Mitchell, Mookie Wilson, Dwight Gooden, Rick Aguilera and Roger McDowell, among others. He had been in baseball 65 years, 44 of those with the Mets.

Wally Backman and Kevin Mitchell have also seen the inside of a cell also, if not done real time.

I get the idea McDowell has an arrest or two in his past we don't know about, if not in his future.

But no, I'm not that surprised.

And Mike Scott was doctoring the baseball so much in 1986 he could have been convicted of practicing medicine without a license.
