As some of you know, I have a side-career performing stand-up comedy in the DC area:
https://www.facebook.com/JeffHysenComedy

I am happy to tell you that I have a show coming up in New York City. I will be performing at the Broadway Comedy Club, right in Times Square, on November 4 at 7 PM:
https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=279468858737293

As added incentive, two CPF'ers will be in attendance.

Note that there's a $10 cover charge and a two drink minimum. I hope to see you there.

I think you're worth the $10 and two drinks :)

I'd just play a loop of 1960's Met "highlights" ;)

I certainly hope you take everyday situations and turn them into stories that audiences love.

I got a permission slip from Wifey Bucket for this one. My brother-in-law's band will be playing the powerpop fest downtown afterward, so it's a full nite of entertainment for me.

That's some sweet jangle. Movie could have used more of that.

If I were a band, I wouldn't want to follow bmfc1 on stage, not even in the same city.

Re: Me, Performing Stand-Up Comedy in New York City

bmfc1 - Off the top of my head, I can think of a few a table -

Me +1
dgw & mrs. dgw
G-Fafif & Mrs. G-Fafif
Lunchi (& Mrs. Lunchie?)

Plus you can add our friend David Roth (and his wife?).

I think we can fill a table if they can put one aside for us.

I will have to meet you guys at the show. Still trying to trick my brother into coming along, so I could be one or two.

Thanks to the CPF for the support. The show begins at 7 and will be over by 9. The promoter asks that people arrive when the doors open at 6:30. I'm not sure when I will be going on.

Re: Me, Performing Stand-Up Comedy in New York City

So how did it go down? Was it a Don Rickles insult fest or what?

We used to have this game among my friends --- to put together a really narrowcast comedy routine that would be hilarious among our small circle but we absolutely bomb in front of a general audience.

"OK, who am I? You get it folks, with the hips...? I'M TIM TEUFEL! TIM TEUFEL, FOLKS! Whoah, what's with that hook?"

If I had two tables full of Cranepoolers, I'd come out and open with "How 'bout that PiazzaFan411? Am I right, folks?" To heck with the rest of the room.

Start off by giving us wrestling updates, then follow up about how you just finished off Latvia. We'd be howling.

Sir, is that an IGT in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Do we have any folks here who ranked Young above Parnell? Your ride back to the home will be here in five minutes.

Sir, you look like a reasonable fellow -- or at least a fellow who thinks it would be reasonable to strangle Adam Rubin in his sleep.

Hello, hello? Is this thing on? And by this thing, I mean m.e.t.b.o.t.
