Murphy. They don't end up trading him.

I don't see Murphy being traded, at least not unless the Mets sign Jose, and probably not even then.

Re: Murphy on the block

I mean, it makes a lot of sense to trade high on Murphy, when you have other Tejadaish options for 2B that are better defensively and Murphy hasn't shown he's gonna be a high OBP or a 15-20 HR guy.

Also Turner, Valdespin, even Satin on the 40 man.

Re: Murphy on the block

i can see them trading murphy. there's little confidence that murphy can last a year on 2b without getting himself spiked and dl'ed. I hope they bring back someone who can contribute in 2013/2014.

and who's on second? turner if reyes is gone (most likely). Tejada if we have our ol ss back.

not sure I'm sold on Tejada as the 2B though. But there may be cheap FA options too.

Re: Murphy on the block

If Reyes doesn't sign, and Havens survives ST/the season's first right weeks, don't you kinda have to give him a whirl in the service of resource evaluation?

is Havens one of the "needs to be on the 40 man" guys?

still, probably hold off a month or so for service time type reasons.

Bob Murphy? I'm pretty sure his best days are behind him, no?

Re: Murphy on the block

Reyes or not, I'd trade Wright before I'd trade Murphy. He's much cheaper, under control for longer, probably a better defensive third baseman at this point, no slouch at the plate while Wright is no guarantee to return to his All-Star numbers, and in spite of all that, he'd most likely get us less in a deal.

that's some ballsy statement right there, Murphy has had one full season really, have we seen Wright's best?, hopefully not, is Murphy at his best(presumably to come) even the same power hitter as Wright?

Murphy a better(probably) defender than Wright?

Re: Murphy on the block

Free agent at 2B in 2012

Murphy becomes a fulltime utility player for someone for the rest of career.
