Memories of Pat Misch

Lefthander bouncing between the rotation and the bullpen, Between Buffalo and Citi.

First great shuttle rider of the CitiField/Buffalo Bisons era, I think.

Had a sharp bone structure, vaguely (if only vaguely) reminiscent of Dennis Cook --- a good leftyface.

Pat Misch, heading down the highway to Phillie. Get that patch off the side of your hat.

MGiM forgot to include him in a St Patrick's Day note regarding all Metly Pats and Patricks. That's all I got.

Pitched a complete game shutout for the Mets. You don't see many of those anymore.

Up and down a lot. I remember seeing him pitch in Buffalo in 2009 after he had already been in the bigs.

Likable, but not spectacular.

My condolences to Toddler Ted. Here's a picture she might enjoy -

"swing and a Misch, swing and a Misch", that is all.

Some surprisingly serviceable outings in '09 and '10, and a surprising lack of a gag reflex.

Started the game and went very deep and almost flawlessly in the contest that ended with Josh Thole homering as the third Mets catcher to end a game that way in 2010.

Thought "Misch" was kind of a funny name, in that way eleven-year-olds might.

Looking up this past September and realizing he wasn't on the roster when I could've sworn he was.

An admirable quality if ever there was one.

He flitted across the surface of Metdom like a pond skimmer, never sinking, never leaving a ripple, ultimately disappearing without a trace.

An interesting post from Lefty Specialist about a lefty who could never quite qualify as a specialist.
