So 'Restricted' calls me on my cell phone

Weird call just now... My cell vibrates and I assume its the Mrs (I was expecting a call from her). I notice just as I answer that the number is restricted. But I've already answered. Me: "Hello" Restricted: [bitchy woman's voice] "Hello who am I speaking to?" Me: [caught off guard] "Umm...who is this?" Restricted: [still bitchy] "I want to know who I am speaking with." Me: [bouncing back] "Well, you called me. So why don't you tell me who you are." Restricted: [bitchy that I would seemingly question her] "I'm looking for a name." Me: [had it] "Sorry, I am ending this call." [hang up] I'll state the obvious...I have committed no crimes, nor am I having an affair. I have no clue who this woman was, but it still kind of shook me up. Anyone have any similar experiences? How does one get a "restricted" number anyhow?

Weird. This same thing happened to me about a week ago, except it was a guy.

Dial *67 and then the number you want to dial and instead of your number on their caller ID, it'll come up "restricted."

I get a bunch of wrong numbers on my cell, but usually not hostile ones.

I believe some phones can manually set this feature as well. I get a ton of spammy calls. most of them are numbers though. many automated recordings and/or politicians demanding my vote.

I got a call like that once. She demanded a name. The first one that came to mind was yours. Was that not cool?

Google Voice app allows me to blog and report spam, calls like this never get through, calls that show up as restricted don't get through, what nerve that person had.

A few years ago, I kept getting calls (I never answered because I was at work and I didn't recognize the out of state phone number) from a guy that kept leaving messages wanting me to come pick him up for Thanksgiving holiday. His messages gradually grew more demanding. After several messages, I searched the phone number number over the internet and learned that it was from a land line at a prison to the northeast of Atlanta. The caller eventually gave up and stopped calling my phone, but he must have called 10-12 times over a 2-3 week period.
