Company holidays get me tomorrow and Friday off. I took a personal day today to clean the house and run some errands.

Five day weekend. Oh, yeah.

Re: *** THANKSGIVING WEEK OFF-DAY(S) CHECK ***

Just Thursday off for me.

I work in department that gives time off based on senority and I am surrounded by peeps with 20+ years put in.

I'm going to have to work Black Friday, X-mas Eve and the days around July 4th for many years.

No work tomorrow and Friday, we used to come in on the Friday but in the last contract we swapped one of the minor holidays for the day after thanksgiving.

Working Wednesday and Friday. People want a paper every day -- thank goodness!

Off til Monday..

Ashie Sr. died suddenly on a Thanksgiving morning so after trying a couple of times its kinda just another day.

It's never good to lose someone you love, but I imagine that a holiday passing would really put a damper on that holiday going forward. Best of memories Ashie.

I worked until 5:00 Pm today and will be back in the office at 8:00 AM on Friday. I'd rather be working than in the maddening crowds of "Black Friday".

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Re: *** THANKSGIVING WEEK OFF-DAY(S) CHECK ***

Know how you feel, Ashie, my wife's younger brother passed away on Thanksgiving. I'll be thinking of you and your family.
But we also feel it is a day for family to get together and give thanks.

I worked until 8PM tonight, and will go back on Friday (and maybe Saturday).
But the hardest work will be tomorrow. Thanksgiving is the only day of the year that MMYF lets me cook. I do the turkey, stuffing and some veggies (other than the sweet potato and cranberry pies that she made today). we've been doing it for over 30 years.

Everyone have a safe Thanksgiving.
And bless you Edgy.

My dad died on Labor Day, Ashie. Just one more reason to hate that holiday at the end of summer.

I hear you....Dad passed within 15 minutes after getting dressed in the morning. I spent the first two years afraid I would croak the same way on the same day.

Re: *** THANKSGIVING WEEK OFF-DAY(S) CHECK ***

Funny how superstitions can really scare you, huh? WHen I was a girl there was a Temps song "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". The first line was "it was the third of September, that day I'll always remember, cos that was the day that my daddy died... I wouldn't sing that song on a bet, thinking it would come true.

Guess what date my dad died on, 35 years later...
