SPRING TRAINING CLASSIC ROCK CHALLENGE - Finis!!!

I just can't get enough Klassik Rawk, so sign up below for our latest Classic Rock Challenge. I have a list of top songs of all time from a (hopefully) obscure classic rock radio station that's not in New York City. We will be trying to pick the top 250 songs (the full list may or may not have more songs than 250). 1. Like in our earlier contests, participants will take turns picking one song at a time from a randomized list that snakes back and forth. 2. Points are awarded in two ways: * If the song you pick is the highest charting song by that particular band/artist you get 10 points. The second highest charting song by that band/artist gets 5 points. Any other charting songs by that band are worth 1 point. * Songs that are in the top 25 of the list earn 10 points, top 50 (26-50) earn 5 points, and top 100 (51-100) get 1 point. There are no points for songs over 100 other than the band/artist points. * These points are cumulative so any song that is in the top 25 and is also the highest ranking song by that band/artists will be highly coveted because they will be worth 20 points total. This contest should encourage different strategies: do you try to pick the top ranking songs of all time, or pick the best songs by more obscure bands? 3. After a pick is submitted I will reveal the number of points earned, but will not reveal the exact ranking of the song. This will help prevent anyone finding the original list and "peeking" (not that anyone here would do that). 4. Depending on the number of participants, I figure we'll go 10 rounds and then maybe have a lightning round if any songs are left in the top 250. Show your Classic Rock mettle and sign up now!!!!

Yeah, I'm on the outs as well. I've found I don't know as much about Classic Rock as I thought I did...and I'm OK with that. Whatever happened to the Parody Challenge?

All right, I guess we'll hold off on Classic Rock until the parody contest is over which means it should start around Easter time. This is a fun list I've found. Any strategy you had built on the Q104.3 contest will have to go out the window.

I have a particularly diabolical list so I look forward to seeing how you Classic Rock Experts will do. Will batmags dominate again? Will metirish find that Thin Lizzy picks are well-rewarded? Will Classic Rock take the weekend off? The contest starts Wednesday Feb. 15th.

He was extremely annoyed that you held up the contest pending my confirmation to play, but then asked you to hold up the game so that someone else, anyone else, could be added. I'm insulted. And I want an apology, an explanation, and $100.00. And none of this to your favorite charity bullshit. I intend to spend the $100.00 on myself.

Some interesting strategies emerging so far. * Pick the biggest hit by a band that's not likely to have a lot of songs in the countdown and scoop up those band/artist bonus points - worked well for Lunchbucket but seems to have backfired for Ashie. * Stick with the safe and sound countdown standards - a nice coup for LWFS but FMan fell into the "Stairway" trap. Metsguyinmichigan is most unlucky as he picked two songs that are often in the top ten if not the top five. * Pick a Thin Lizzy song - metirish's tried and true strategy finally pays off, but will he continue on this tack in upcoming rounds?
