I have both and a corticosteroid inhaler and the dang Primatene works better than albuterol for me. I'm guessing the albuterol sulfate is safer???

Me too Ashie. I have prescription inhalers but Primatene not only works better but is just easier to use. It's funny cause my doctor poo-poo'd it years ago. Anyway, from what I hear the Primatene inhaler is dangerous to the ozone layer. Tough luck for those of us who have asthma. Disclosure: I am a treehugger, but I'm asthmatic too

In twelve years working with asthma sufferers I have never met anyone ho uses it, forget the ozone layer, it's dangerous as it has epinephrine which can cause tachycardia and constricts blood vessels.If for instance you are older with high blood pressure it's not good. Albuterol can cause heart rate increase but it's more selective and is safe.

Well, I am very young! With low blood pressure! Heheh Anyway, I use Advair twice a day when I remember, so I really rarely need a rescue inhaler, but for some reason, Primatene has always been the one that works best for me. These two I bought last night will last me a year at least.
