A couple of contracts got finalized today to avoid arbitration:
Ramon Ramirez gets 2.65M
Mike Pelfrey gets 5.675M

We still have Manny Acosta and Andres Torres left.

Nice upgrade in pay for Pelfrey , sported an ERA of 4.74 in 2011 over a ERA of 3.66 in 2010, gets a raise of over $1.5 milllion.

For comparison purposes, Angel Pagan settled pre-arbitration for $4.85 mil

Coulda been worse with Pelfrey, I imagine. I'm OK with those two deals and I think they were the tougher of the four.

Just in: Torres gets a one year, 2.7 million dollar deal.

That's a tick higher than I was expecting. But looking over the numbers, he made $2.2 last year, so I guess that's about right. Still save $2+ million from Pagan and get a pitcher to boot.

They just reached with Acosta, which cleans the slate.

Are we going to do an "Expectations of Twelve" series? If so, my feeling on Pelfrey right now is that he'll pitch well enough to be traded in July, and Matt Harvey will take his place in the Mets rotation.

he'll pitch exactly the same as he has for pretty much every year of his career, and his results will wildly fluctuate based on luck, defense, and Warthen's consciousness level.

Phillies just locked up Cole Hamels for $15 million.
