Victor Martinez - Done for season?

Torn ACL during winter workouts. Getting 2nd opinion but probably slated for surgery which would wipe out all of 2012

Expect everybody and his sister to be calling Detroit with offers of big-stick-no-glove guys. Maybe the Mets'll offer Doodie.

Muffy, even better.

Much weeping and gnashing of teeth here in the Mitten State.

Murphy really would be a perfect fit.

I'm not of a mind, but if they are, I'm sure there's somebody they can match up with. Murphy for Scherzer maybe.

Yup yup. I love what Muffy did for us last year but I'm having trouble imagining him as an everyday 2Bman. I think maybe that's Reese Havens' job.

Also wrist surgery for Carl Crawford which may cause him to not be ready by opening day.

Presumably due to the topical nature of WFAN, there are still people calling up killing the Mets for Beltran having surgery in January. Or Blaming Beltran for purposely waiting to have it.

Well it's the nature of fans in general and not just 'The FAN' in particular to not be a medical professional yet play one on the air and/or the web.

Maybe I don't follow enough Red Sox fans, but are they killing Crawford for waiting? Or they blaming it on out of shape from fried chicken and beer? Are there beat writers tweeting every skeptical medical decision, right or wrong, from the last 6 years? Don't forget finance experts. It's obviously not just the radio, but I find the radio makes a good scape-goat, seems to draw out some of crazier people. Or maybe it's just that I've learned not to read Mets blog comments, and unfollowed some of the ignorant ones on Twitter so that I see it most in my 45 minutes of WFAN a day.

I don't know, I'm just saying that fans who think medical decisions that look so simple to us outsiders aren't, otherwise there'd be not such thing as second opinions, multiple options, or actual malpractice suits. And that those who think those questions are unique to their team's medical staff need to get out a little more. Two years back, the Sox sat Pedroia out from late June until late August claiming he needed rest & rehab but not surgery. He made it back to the lineup, played in two games, then sat out the rest of the year and had the surgery they were trying to avoid.
