So what exactly constitutes "Mom Jeans"?

I get that the almost certainly focus-grouped idea that constantly puts Mitt in jeans makes him look somewhat dorky (and while we're at it dude: don't sing. OK?), but I keep hearing people say that it wouldn't be quite as bad except that he's wearing "Mom jeans".

So what exactly makes jeans into "Mom jeans"?

Is it the brand? The style? The fit? The lack of style and fit? Too long? Too short? Too tight? Too loose?
Or is it simply the wearer who makes them so, as in some people - like say potential Oakland A's draft picks or overweight office personnel on casual Fridays - just shouldn't wear jeans at all?

Think of them as jeans/stretch pants.

Re: So what exactly constitutes "Mom Jeans"?

"Mom jeans" is a term used to describe particularly high-waisted jeans, presumably to act in part as a girdle to contain the lower belly made soft in the child bearing years. The area between the hips and the waist can be made more expansive by pleats or elastic.

Not that I've been watching closely, but I don't think that particularly describes the fashions of the Romster:

Maybe, but I would just take it as partisan emasculating.

Wikipedia's page about Mom Jeans

Basically, looser styles of jeans (as opposed to the low-rise, sexier styles).

All hail the low rise.

As in the SNL parody screenshot above, Mom Jeans tend to hit ultrahigh in the waist, giving the wearer that postnatal soccer-mom/Sinbad-onstage-in-'87/LWFS-in-'12 butt-look.

Mitt looks dead broke when he wears those jeans, works every time.

Unless you have very specific tastes/neuroses.
