National television debut!

Hey! I'm going to be on CNN's Political Hour on Sunday! The network wanted a political reporter from the western side of the state to talk about the Michigan primary. I'll be with Steve Henderson of the Detroit Free Press.

The show airs between 4 and 5, and I'm expected to on around 4:15. They offered to "send a car" to pick me up, but the studio is a short walk from my office. Have to wear make-up. It's going to be live. Yikes.

I've been appearing on our local public television station for a while now, but this is my first time going national.

That's pretty cool! Tell Steve that his walkoff homerun in 1980 is one of my great childhood memories of Shea.

The coolest part about appearing on CNN is when you get your own personal introduction from James Earl Jones:

"THIS IS MET GUY FROM MICHIGAN"

Some people think his intros were a one-time prerecorded thing, but it's a little-known fact that they keep J.E.J. hanging around backstage so he can both introduce guests and give the call letters at the top of each hour.
It's true, you'll see.

Re: National television debut!

This is really awesome - congrats MGIM!

Why do I think that you will pull a Jeter, and make everyone else better by your mere presence?

So, in other words, just a normal weekend for you then?

MGIM: "We're looking at the field, and Romney's been the Ojeda of this thing all along --- dazzling nobody but racking up the wins and putting the strongest season together. We knew all along that Gignrich was Fernandez, but I think what the electorate is starting to realize is there's a little Darling in Santorum. And he's here in Michigan showing us, you know, the good face, and saying that he's the one that should be challenging Gooden for supremacy this fall."

Henderson: "What the fuck are you talking about?"

Phew! That was nerve-wracking! They threw me an unexpected question and I tried to cover.

I'll have some more details later. It was a fun experience.

And Henderson said he was robbed of the 1977 Rookie of the Year Award.

Pssst... I'm the one on the right. I did bond with my daughter over make-up removal, though!

I didn't think so, but today I was called by C-SPAN to do election night coverage, and then by ABC News radio. I was on the Wall Street Journal radio tonight.

Alas, after the primary is over, they won't come calling!

Woot!

And hey - now that you're an established go to guy, who's to say they won't come to you for other Michigan-related news events?

Very cool news :)

Such as Derek Jeter's childhood stories when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame and canonized for sainthood.

MGIM just appeared on Colbert via C-Span! Comments on Romney appearing sans jacket jumping off point for Mitt bit.
