Any reason the Marlins new SS isn't playing? Pelfrey gives up 2 ER on 4 H in the first inning. Carlos Zambrano pitching for the Marlins. What's the over/under on a July 4th complete effing meltdown for this guy?

Or he wasn't ready to face the demons. No audio for this game, sucks.

This game's on the MLB network, FYI. Some guy named May who plays catcher for my favorite team, the Mets, just scorched one in the gap to score Ike & Bay, who both walked. 2-2.

Wind blowing out hard to left. He kinda went with it and it kept going. He's a monster, Loewenbräu. A skinnier Adam Dunn. Great interview w/ Miguel Batista. He wants to get into sculpting now. "Kill time before it kills me," he says. That guy & Dickey would be great to listen to when they're drunk.

With the way Frank Francisco looks-- right down to the tight-lipped little pout-- he could change his name to Armandslow Benitez. The Marlins' new third baseman puts all of himself-- for once!-- into a middle-in fastball, and it's beyond the drinkin' deck.

Lucas May is rather intriguing. He went two straight seasons with an OPS over .800 in the PCL -- as a catcher -- and never got the call. He slumped badly at the start of last season, and got shipped to the D-Backs system where he rebounded to his regular numbers. Now he's with us on a minor-league deal. I have to assume his glove had something to do with him staying in AAA so long, but he could easily hit his way above Nickeas on the depth chart. Or at least, the same interesting but more willing to share my interestingness. Really, I think i'm just boring normally, but being drunk definitely has the edge over sober since beer is a passion. Just like how I'm more interesting at Citi Field than I am in the bagel store.

Valdespin chased a WAY outside fastball on a steal attempt (hit-and-run?), and drifted across the plate, lingering in the catcher's throwing lane. And Hank Webb's kid ends it with a punchout.
