Mets notes: Terry Collins lets off steam WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14, 2012 THE RECORD Collins lets off steam Frustrated by his team’s three new additions to the injury ward, manager Terry Collins spent 28 fired-up seconds venting that frustration in the clubhouse before Tuesday’s game. "I’m just getting tired of going in the training room where I’ve got to sweat to see who can walk out of there," Collins told reporters. "That’s all. I’m sick of it." Add reliever D.J. Carrasco, shortstop Ruben Tejada and infielder Ronny Cedeno to sick bay. Tejada has a strained left groin. Carrasco, according to Collins, twisted his ankle in a hole Monday. Cedeno is battling tendinitis in his knee. "Again, not severe; he’ll be fine," Collins said of Cedeno. "But can he do things 100 percent? Not for the next couple days he can’t." Very few of these injuries concern Collins long term, but he said each one disrupts the team’s plans for things such as baserunning drills and infield practice. His raw anger seemed to have evaporated somewhat by the time Collins met with reporters after Tuesday afternoon’s 7-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. "I’m allowed to be frustrated," Collins said. "This is a team I’m trying to get ready to win. I’m sitting here in front of you telling you how we’re going to compete. And I’m going to tell you what. We aren’t going to compete if we don’t have our players on the field. We’ve got to get them ready." "I talk about patience," Collins said. "Right now I’m out of it. So I’ve got to go back tonight and let my wife beat me up and find my patience again." .. ?!

Presumably because you shouldn't get snippy with your wife? Practice biting your tongue and "yes dear". I think it'd be awesome if he started saying "Yes dear" to Rubin.

I think that working for Terry, or just being around him, would be mentally exhausting. I also think that, over time, I would have a harder and harder time hiding my disdain for him. I can see glimpses of how he wore out his welcome in Houston and Anaheim, especially if his personality was, as has been said, even more intense then. My prediction: There will be a new manager before the end of the 2014 season, if not sooner.
