IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two
Edgy MD Apr 05 2012 09:49 PM |
Jair Jurjenns vs. R.A. Dickey. Curacao vs. Kilimanjaro. Look for Kirk Nieuenhuis to get the call and make his big league debut starting and leading off.

I don't have a Braves lineup yet, but expect a lot of (all?) lefties.

The weirdest 1-2-3 inning you'll see in a while. Way too shallow by Bay and a double drops in, 6-3 advances the runner.

Was looking at the replay for the Wright kaboom and was having trouble seeing where it landed in the Mo-Zone. Was that the first new-fence homer?
|
Gwreck Apr 07 2012 12:26 PM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
Duda's homer: would not have been a homer with the old dimensions. Wright's would have.

Nope, it landed in the bullpen.

Mets take it back on a Thole single off Livan. 3-2 going to bottom-5.
|
Nymr83 Apr 07 2012 01:19 PM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
Murphy had a single off the wall just now, double to the mo-zone last year. Wright follows with a single, a passed ball makes it 2nd and 3rd. Do you walk Ike to get to Bay here? Livan opting not to so far...

From the Punch Bowl Turds Dept.: the HRs are nice and all, but the Mets are now 2-for-16 (or 17, I lost count) with RISP on the year.

Disappointed that he didn't get a longer workday. I appreciate getting folks started on the right foot, but I'm ever an advocate for fewer and longer outings by relievers, and longer ones in general by starters.

Well, yeah, but they did have a runner on, and a chance to do some insure-runs. But, yes, two innings would have been nice. On the plus side... I really may have to revise my projections for Wright. Ye Gods, does he look locked-in.

All things shall be tracked. Encouraging that we played well enough to win a game we didn't play that great. If you're the Braves you've got to be disappointed, devastated being too strong of a word of course.

From the Rose Colored Glasses department: in two games against good pitching, the reputedly weak hitting Mets have gotten 17 runners in scoring position.

Well put! It was a fun game to attend - not as warm as Thursday, but still fine weather for April. I saw G-Fafif and holychicken before the game, and despite the angst enjoyed the Mets win :)

I watched innings one and two at home and listened to 3-6 on my iPhone will at a kids Easter Egg hunt down the street. Then I came home and napped and missed the end. I'm glad they won.

Another feelgood win. They might even knock the Yanks off of tomorrow's back pages for the second time this week. Is a 2-0 Mets start bigger news than an 0-2 MFY start?
Sounds fine by me. I don't know what Collins is waiting for though. Better late than never but it's two series too late if you ask me. Why not tomorrow? Is anyone else here having huge trouble reading SNY's new ball-strike counter on their ticker? 'Cause I surely am.

Prolly cuz a lefty's starting
Yeah. Too many designers don't know when to leave well-enough alone. Sometimes the easiest way to say it's 1-and-2 is to put up a graphic that says 1-2
|
batmagadanleadoff Apr 07 2012 09:34 PM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
||
Yeah but it sounds as if Collins intends to move Duda up one slot no matter the pitcher, and not just against righties. That new ticker blows. The runners on base graphic isn't so clear either. Who was the test audience? Mr. Magoo? The same guy that designed CF's scoreboards?
|
Ceetar Apr 07 2012 10:26 PM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
I like the new SNY ticket and I thought it'd generally been met with approval. I haven't had any problem with besides the normal training my eyes where to look for each bit of data. much better than in previous years.
|
Benjamin Grimm Apr 08 2012 04:50 AM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
|
How does a play like that get scored? It wouldn't be a passed ball, because the runner didn't advance successfully. Is it a caught stealing? That's not quite right either.
|
Benjamin Grimm Apr 08 2012 04:57 AM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
I was at the game too. Nice, crisp, fun game to attend. Sat, for the first time, in the 400 section, the Promenade boxes. (In my previous four trips to Citi, I was always in the 500 section, Promenade Reserved.) From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell if Wright's homer was credited to the new fences. Duda's first homer clearly was, and his second one clearly wasn't.
|
Frayed Knot Apr 08 2012 06:34 AM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
||
I think it is a caught stealing. Isn't that the same way you'd score it if a runner had broken to 2nd base when a ball trickled away, or via a delayed steal or other non-conventional advance? Or is it just treated as "out advancing" the way you would for a runner trying to go 1st to 3rd? IOW, a simple 2-1 putout with no other specific designation. Definitely no on the PB. HRs old vs new fences: Wright - HR either way Duda - no HR 1st time, yes 2nd time Keith says he (and by 'He' he means some SNY-employed lackey near him) is going to track those all year.
|
Ceetar Apr 08 2012 06:41 AM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
ugh. I really don't want to see that tracked. the stadium is the stadium and I hope they're at least tracking the opposition too.
|
Ceetar Apr 08 2012 06:59 AM Re: IGT: 4/7/2012, Braves @ Mets, Game Two |
|
Seems like an interpretation, but I guess it makes sense. It'll look like a 2-1 (or 2-6) in the scorecard, but without the CS or PO it'd have to be the out advancing thing.

Or a new prescription, Oldie. During sunny days like yesterday, it's a little tricky because of the light in our living room. But that's more of a TV-placement issue than an SNY-bug bugaboo.
