Marlins lead in the Phils' home opener 1-0, Sanchez v Hamels. Reyes singles, steals, scores on groundout.

think I'm 'rooting' for the Marlins in that one.

Re: OoTS: April 9

I used to hate the Marlins a ton but most of the offending players there are gone -- no more Cody Ross, Dan Uggla, Alfredo Amezaga, Scott Olsen, Miguel Olivo, et al.

There is still nothing redeemable about the Phillies.

I'm only looking at it in a "root for the 'better' team to lose because it makes the division title more attainable for the Mets" way. I don't think I hate any of the Marlins particularly.

I don't hate any of the Phillies particuarly. Phillie culture, eh, that's another thing.

They have a very good beer culture.

2-0 fish now. Juan Pierre playing left field "Not blessed with a strong arm" according to the Phillies announcers.

Re: OoTS: April 9

Marlins put up a run each in the fourth and fifth and now lead 3-0.

Cole Hamels: only the third worst hitter in today's Phillie lineup.

Re: OoTS: April 9

Reyes thrown out trying to steal third with two outs.

Hamels just fielded a ball and threw it to first..no one was covering. Bonificio ends up on third.

I'm good if the wheels fall off both teams somehow this series.

Papelbon in just to get work with a 5-2 deficit, serves up a leadoff HR.

6-2 going to the bottom of the 9th.

Re: OoTS: April 9

So how many Braves fans do you suppose looked at how their schedule began and said: 'Hey check it out, we get to start the season against the Mets & Astros; that's a 5-1 start at the worst!'?

Uhh no, you're 0-4 presently.

And out in Colorado, Barry Zito tosses his first complete game shut-out in 9 years.

Re: OoTS: April 9

Good night for the Mets as 3 of their 4 NL East rivals lose (which is the maximum possible since the Marlins played the Phillies).

Maybe he was hoping the Ump would be laughing so hard that he'd have tears in his eyes.

Perhaps you two need to be reminded of the image of Hanley jumping up and down at home plate, like he just won the World Series and the Kentucky Derby on the same day, in Shea’s final hours.

Fuck the fish. Then fry ‘em and serve them in a sandwich with lots of mayo.
