Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

Mine disappeared over the weekend sometime between after
dinner Sat and Sun afternoon.
The dog ate it! That's my story and I'm sticking to it,

I take mine off for softball a couple of times a week and I'm always scared that I will misplace it, but never have.

Good luck!

Initially I took mine off when swimming and stuff but quickly realized I had a better shot of losing it that way.

I'll keep an eye out for yours.

A new ring is all the more reason to renew your vows. Try that one and see how she likes it. Wish I could help you more.

What kills me is family heirlooms I regularly misplace, coins brought over by grandparents when they immigrated, the medals my dad wore as a police officer, woodworking tools of my carpenter great-grandfather. Breaking faith with ancestors isn't cool.

I hope it turns up!

I've never lost mine, although I had my anniversary band resized, which made the structure unstable and I wound up having to replace some of the small diamonds a couple of times. So now I have a new gold band that almost never leaves my finger.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

My wife lost her engagement ring a few years back. It was just after her illness and she had lost a lot of weight. We looked everywhere (so we thought). It turned up a couple of weeks later in the drawer where we keep all of our electronics chargers. So there is hope!

I gave it to my wife to hold until I was out of recovery after surgery over 40 years ago. Don't think I've taken it off since.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

mrs.mm once almost lost her engagement ring. she dropped it on the floor of our apartment, and poof! vanished! it hit the ground and was gone. she looked all over everywhere that was remotely accessible. couldn't find it. we went to work, and i came home at lunch to look for it. tore the place apart. nothing. that evening, she went to the gym. she took off her pants, and the ring tumbled to the ground. it had bounced off hte floor, and nestled into the cuff arround her ankle. she'd been walking around all day with the ring in there, none the wiser. it could have ended up pretty much anywhere, and lost forever - but instead was happily recovered.

i take my wedding ring off every time i go running, or do anything physical. it's a little loose, and when the weather is right can come sliding readily off, but any tighter and i'd never ever get it over my knuckles. i take it off so that i don't lose it.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

Soon after I was engaged all those years ago, I got up one morning and my diamond wasn't on the nightstand. I tore my room apart looking for it, to no avail.

Finally hours later I confessed to my fiance that my ring was missing. We further tore my bedroom apart looking for it. I knew it was there but I just couldn't find it.

It finally turned up that night when I proceeded to eat from the pack of saltines I was munching on. Yay!

PS, My diamond still fits, but not my wedding band. I haven't worn either in years.

Took it off in a movie theater. Thought I stuck it in my pocket. Instead it hit the floor and rolled to the back of the room. Found it when the film was over.

Would you believe the movie in question was Lord of the Rings?

You shouldn't. It was Primary Colors.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

It's only been 18 months (and a day) so I haven't managed to lose mine yet. Don't take it off either. the only time I ever take it off besides to play with it absentmindedly is when I make meatballs.

I've been more concerned that when I eventually follow through on my goal of losing 50+ pounds, it'll no longer fit and is unresizable.

Found it! I just went out to get something out of the garage
refrigerator and was squatted down and I looked to the right
and there it was on the bottom shelf in front of the Guiness
I was drinking on Saturday.

More proof that beer saves marriages!!

14+ years and I have yet to take it off...not for swimming, showering, nuthin'. I don't know why I take pride in that, but I do.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

I've seldom taken mine off. I don't like jewelry, so I opted for a small, slender ring and I'm usually not aware that it's even there. But when I had a colonoscopy, for example, they tell you to remove all jewelery. I think they don't want to be responsible if somebody slips it off your finger while you're unconscious. So at times like that, I do remove it.

I remove mine when I'm doing something like kneading dough, just because I don't want to deal with the mess involved. But that's one of the few times I take it off.

I only take mine off when I go out after work to flirt with young women in dark smokey bars. But only then.

I thought keeping it on these days was all the rage. Lets them know you're a "safe guy"?

And you can't smoke in bars anymore.

By "Smokey bars" he means bars where bears in forest ranger suits hang out.

I take it off every night, put it on every morning. I leave it at home when we go on long trips. In 22 years, I have occasionally lost it for brief periods but always found it.

I also bought an exact duplicate in 1990 which is kept in a secret hiding place and has never ever been used.

this is where you've made hte critical mistake. you need to keep the spare in a super-secret location, but routinely switch between the two so that htey each appear time-worn. the trick is of course to keep the secret location in a place where your spouse lacks access to, yet you have regular ready access.

Re: Wedding rings ... ever lose one? Ever find it?

Just tell her about the back-up ring. I'm sure your wife will find it amusing. And if you notice, several of us who participated in this thread are currently wearing rings other than the ones from their wedding ceremonies.

My engagement ring and original wedding ring are fused together. They're lovely, but small on my finger these days (although I still wear them on my right hand on a regular basis) -

This was the ring that D-Dad gave me for our 25th anniversary, the second time that it needed to be repaired -

The repairs were lovely -

But this was my Chanukah gift this year, so I can be my klutzy self without having to worry about replacing any more diamonds -

Wouldn't a simple switch to wedding nose rings solve all these problems about whether to take it off during cooking or sports time as well as solve the inevitable finger growth/shrinkage phase?

My softball leauge requires that all jewelry needs to be remover or covered with tape. Taping my nose would be awkward.
