12Am and 12PM should be banned from the lexicon. It should be either noon or midnight. I always learned that, because a new day began at a second after midnight, that midnight was considered PM while the designation '12 AM' meant noon. But, yeah, I would be hesitant to use either because there's probably about a 50/50 shot that whoever you're telling it to thinks of it as the other way around. Just one more reason for the immediate adoption of the 24-hour clock. I remember a whole buncha years ago Johnny Carson gave a guest spot to some ordinary LA-area citizen because he had made a minor local news story out of successfully fighting a parking ticket on the grounds that the parking hours sign was misleading due to the 12 AM/PM confusion.

I'm pretty sure (but not totally sure) that airlines never schedule departures or arrivals for 12:00: they're either 11:59 or 12:01.

I'm sure these groups don't necessarily overlap, but the next time someone brings up that every other league (not true) uses the DH, so the NL should too, I'm gonna respond with every other country uses the metric system, so let's get that one done first.

Watching these last couple of games reinforces my sense that the biggest change in baseball in the last twenty or years regards defensive positioning. Next time you watch a pre-1990 game, notice how many balls get through infields versus today when video, scouting and whatever computer magic has allowed teams to play hitters, not positions. Wright's ball up the middle that was a rather routine groundout to Uggla is typical of what used to get through versus what gets gobbled up.

They're not really delays, per se-- the wormTurners are just taking their time between innings grooming the puddles. I'm not sure how much bad luck has to do with it, but Teufel appears to have made the wrong decision in sending runners something like 80% of the time today, only nailing the gimmes. He's looking Razor-sharp so far this year in general.

Well, there was rain scheduled for Tuesday as well, otherwise maybe you swap Santana and Dickey there. That may even get Santana an extra day here and there in the future, and Dickey on short rest usually isn'ta big deal. But not sure how that plays in with side-sessions between starts.

Casey swapped pitchers in and out of his rotation all the time --- based on whether they were pitching well, whether the other team was stacked on lefties that a righthander might be vulnerable to, or other favoriable conditions. It's easy to do when you're not working your entire bullpen all the time.
