classic trap series right? crappiest team in the league, Mets are expected to win at least two. This is the Mets last trip to Houston when they'll be competing, however superficially, against the Astros for a playoff spot. i.e. the last time a Mets pitcher will bat in Texas.

Well, Jon Niese has gotten on base also. Turner's career .316 OBP vs. righties isn't getting me to the bank. Valdy had more power, more speed, and more leftiness. Turner had more experience, but that's not where Terry put his faith. I'm OK with that.

Looks like we have a team that can beat any team in the league if they make their plays and avoid errors and base-running mistakes and such, and can lose to any team in the league if they don't. And they look like they're going to be challenged for the time being to avoid such mistakes. 1) I'm still trying to wrap my head around the notion of a poor infielder like Teufel hired to be the infield coach. I realize history is filled with poor pitchers and poor hitters going on to do an excellent job as coaches. I guess I have to decide whether I believe Teufel lacked any skill whatsoever and filled in the gap with knowledge or lacked knowledge as well. I don't know, but he did set a record for the fewest doubleplays by a secondbaseman with over 145 games, or something. 2) When you're 6-for-12 in stolen bases, stop running. (I would have guessed they were more like 3-for-18.) Anyhow, Tim Teufel and Tom Goodwin: I'm countin' on you; you can carry me through.
