Clemens Goes to Court

The Feds have a team of five lawyers going after him. Going to be very difficult for Andy Pettitte to back out of his statement under oath.

If not, should they be pleading the case in moot court. IMO, a conviction serves a dual purpose.
1) Put the fat coward, bat tossing motherfucker in jail.
2) Keep the fat coward, bat tossing motherfucker out of the Hall.

It's been dragging on for so long, what is the status of the trial now?, why is he in court this time....is it the same case?

He's on trial for fat prickiness.

No, it's the same case. The prosecution bungled it embarrassingly last time, and a mistrial was declared.

Santana homered during a shutout in Cincinnati the year before last. Last one at Shea was by Maine in 2007.

How would one search for that information over the the UMDB?

There doesn't seem to be a way for the public to do that particular search. I was able to generate those results by accessing the database directly.

Plus he claimed he was really a LH batter although Davey would never let him hit that way on account of exposing his right arm towards the pitcher.
So he hit exclusively RH-ed to the detriment (he claims) of even more HRs.

I should have made it clear that that list is of games in which a pitcher homered, not a list of all homers by a pitcher.

Hey, it's Kirk Radomski!

Re: Clemens Goes to Court

Obviously I'm missing something here - bold is mine

Displaying New York chutzpah, Radomski testified that he had taken steroids and HGH for 15 years, and then proudly declared, "I don't drink, and I don't do any drugs."

"I'm a health nut," he added. "I take care of my body."

Radomski cooperated with investigators and pleaded guilty to money laundering and distribution of a controlled substance in 2007. He was sentenced to five years' probation and fined $18,000. He said he's started his own supplement company, including "a fat burner and a natural testosterone builder."

I don't remember this NY chutzpah when this first broke.

Holy shit, he got off.

And didn't the conventional wisdom always used to be that they government wouldn't bring you to trial if they didn't have enough to convict?

Edgy MD
Jun 18 2012 03:28 PM
Re: Clemens Goes to Court

Yeah, I think it depends on which arm of the government.

I think it's getting harder and harder to get juries to convict without the gun a-smoking these days. Maybe it's too many CSI shows creating a level of expectation of forensic certainty. Maybe it's the number of death row exonerations. Maybe it's because we never hear about juries in the news unless they screw it up. Maybe it's because defense attorneys are the ones painted as heroes in the media. Maybe it's all Clinton's fault. Maybe it's not a fault at all, but rather it's as it should be. But it's harder.

Re: Clemens Goes to Court

It also doesn't help that:

1. The government screwed up the first time around; and
2. They had a total asshole (and liar) for a star witness.

That being said, you can't discount the jurors-are-idiots factor either.

Time heals all wounds, including needle marks.
By the time he's eligible for the Hall voting, the Yankees will have had enough time to schedule enough "He's a good guy" events to make most of the voters forget why they would have kept him out.
I heard on WCBS that they've already started planning such an event.
