IGT 5/1 @ HOU: #24 May Day!

Ceetar
May 01 2012 07:05 AM

Mets close out April 13-10. Pretty respectable, but let's not making losing streaks a thing in May. win it tonight.

Probables are Jon "New Nose" Niese and J. A. "B. C." Happ.

Re: IGT 5/1 @ HOU: #24 May Day!

According to Gary Cohen pronounced as "Jay Happ." Which is just plain stupid.

I hope we win by 50 fucking runs.

I share a birthday with Manny Acosta who turns 31 today. As a birthday present, maybe they'll give him the day off.

Re: IGT 5/1 @ HOU: #24 May Day!

My thoughts on the cowboy outfits. If they win the next two games, it means their loose, a team that gets along and it's all in good fun. If they lose, it's a definitely a sign that they are not focused on baseball and are wasting our time and money with their dressing-up shennanigans.

I'm Justin Turner. It hasn't been worth their while to start me for nine days, and now I'm suddenly the number-three hitter. How do you do?

Technically the Cubs, Padres, Twins, Royals, Angels, and Marlins are worse at the moment ... but, yeah, this isn't looking good, especially with their best pitcher going against our worst tomorrow.

I'd be a little more confident in our chances, I think, if we had a skipper who were less panicky than I am.

Alas. (And now we've got 6 innings to fill with that wonderful, wonderful 'pen.)

I keep hearing about Brian Bogusevic and thinking he must be the son of former Cosmos star Vladislav Bogi?evi?, but no. Mike Nickeas remains the only NASL offspring in the park.

I'm OK with the bailout as long as they use the long man as a long man and are committed to try and get three innings (or more!) out of him.

Technically not in the park, as per Gary he was sent back to the hotel with the same flu bug that Duda has. We are sans backup catcher tonight.

Yipes. Should've activated Dave Racianello.

Well, they got 2 2/3 before his old wheels came off. Better than nothing, I suppose. I think Ramirez coming in to pitch next.

Oh, Brad Mills, two outs in the eighth, nobody on, and up by three, and you need to go to a lefty specialist to face Davis. You have no future with any team of mine, I tell you what.

If you're talking about Duda pinch-hitting early for Niese, I thought it was one of the most inspired Met managerial moves that I can remember in a while. Even if the move didn't work out. I was actually hoping to see Duda PH, a moment before Collins pulled the trigger.

Re: IGT 5/1 @ HOU: #24 May Day!

And the bullpen mostly did the job, keeping the Astros to one run over the next five innings --- though they walked a ton.

I'm a little confused about Parnell being the guy you go to after you've burned Ramirez. I'd like to see them get alternated a little bit more. But I don't hang this one on Terry hitting the panic button. Moreso on the offense not being able to operate down a few key parts.

I'm holding out hope that a power spike is coming.

I suspect he used Duda early because he had to hold Baxter back. It turns out that Mike Baxter is the emergency catcher.

Batista has been awful in just about every appearance, including last night. I wouldn't mind giving him the Full Nelson Figueroa and let him prove in Buffalo that he can still get people out. Send us Chuck James or Dylan Owen or Owen Dylan or somebody.
