If Tom Trebelhorn was managing, he'd never let Anthony Bass pitch.

The Bass-O-Matic has been sharp.

Not to befoul the baseball forum with Fantasy talk but I had that son of a bitch on 2 teams last year and he didn't do as much all year as he did last night.

I hope he breaks his Evereth-lovin ass.

Lunchpail sees Venable on the scoreboard and asks, "is he a boy or a girl?"

Seriously , Ike looks way out in front every freaking time he takes that big looping swing....can he choke up or something to stop that carry on?

Will Venable, apart form being a big league legacy, is a Princeton grad.

Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see, but I was thinking that Ike looks a bit more lively tonight.
Not that the results have shown a lot (pop up + walk) after just two ABs, but after watching so many lazy swings due to him starting his swing so early before decelerating his cut as he realizes he's fooled or guessed wrong or whatever, there seemed to be both some zip to his swing and some better pitch recognition.

In fact, I'm calling it ... a HR or at least a long 2B from him before the game's out!!

Yeah, looks like we're going to have to settle for that.
He went to first-pitch hacking in each of his last two ABs so maybe that patience thing was short-lived, plus Bud Black countered with the side-winding lefty.

just noticed that. hoping the Giants can come back now, the Braves come back to tie and play 35 inning, and the Cardinals hang on to beat the stupid Phillies, who are apparently fighting in the dugout amongst themselves.

Re: IGT 5/25/12: Trying to hook a Bass

Good game though , Gee was excellent , Keith was in good form, liking that the summer is coming , seemed to be a bit tongue in cheek when saying Memorial Day is here, less days off.....

Regarding Ike....Christ , he comes up and all I am hoping for is that he doesn't swing at all at the first offering , even with the two he knocked in it looked like the same shitty swing but the pitch was down so ho got it..........

So... um... how 'bout that Gee?

(You're right they JUST missed each other by a year; I think I may have been conflating Venable's career with Sydney Johnson's.)
