Claimed by the Jays of Blue. It's a big fuck you for signing Francisco and Rauch in one day, I hear.

He didn't leave us with much positive to remember or to miss -

Was he the first Met to wear number 63 in a regulation game?

Didn't throw a no hitter, honestly couldn't pick him out of a line up.

Re: Memories of Schwinnie

My memory is Ceetar posting after a Schwinden outing "one start closer to Harvey."

Re: Memories of Schwinnie

When I saw him pitch, he reminded me of "Longball" Tom Parsons and Mark "Boom Boom" Bomback.
But those guys were better.

Honestly, I'm surprised anybody thought he was worth a claim. The Jays must be very short on AAA depth.

Wish they'd been a wee bit more quality starts closer to Harvey *or whoever*.

Seems like he could've contributed a bit once maybe he settled down, but ultimately not even worth the 40 man spot and won't likely be missed.

Could have become a ginger Mel Rojas if only they'd given him a chance.

Howie was commenting about this on the radio today. He said he wasn't trying to be mean, but that he couldn't figure out what the Blue Jays could have scene in Schwinden in his Major League appearances to make them want to claim him.

do they have 40man space? it's not like he's 35. sometimes all it takes is a different set of advice from a different set people to make that next jump.

Re: Memories of Schwinnie

Plenty of people not getting it done in the bigs who get claimed because mebbe they might, or mebbe the AAA team needs the depth. They're all dice rolls. Plenty of people out there, I bet, wish they had claimed R.A. Dickey one of the half dozen times he was passing through the waiver wire.

Schwinnie: He and Turner gave us a surfeit of redheads.

He just wasn't successful here. Yes, only 63 ever.

Mets are crazy about the 60s these days.

Re: Memories of Schwinnie

The last pitcher to finish a game for the Mets under the onus of "they've never had a no-hitter." I was saying to a friend with whom I watched his final Met appearance from the Promenade Wednesday night after Johan did what he did Friday, "Chris Schwinden died for our sins."

Or something like that.

Probably because of Mad Men.

Or maybe he could have become the next Ginger Rogers.

I like that he's given me a more modern frame of suckage-reference than, say, Rojas or Rodrigues.

Schwinnie really popular, claimed off waivers today by the Indians.

Slowly drifting westward.

Re: Memories of Schwinnie

Schwinden apparently waived by the MFYs while nobody was watching, re-claimed by Mets, as per an official tweet. Back to Buffalo.

Weird.

Pitched this season for Buffalo (us), Las Vegas (Tor), Columbus (Cle), and Scranton-Wilkes Barre (NYY).

Mets are his only Major League team, though.

Did he actually get anywhere near Jeter?

No, but I think he was breifly a teammate of John Maine who gave up a homer to Ryan Howard a couple of days ago.

I'm pretty sure John Maine's given up homers to just about everyone.

This brings us back to the Pedro Feliciano Koan. If Schwinden returns to pitch for the big league team, is he, in fact, a two-time Met?
