The Beltran season that I want to see.

44 doubles
29 home runs
105 RBI's
41 stolen bases
.307 batting average
.389 on-base percentage

These are all numbers that he has achieved in the past, albiet not all in the same season.

Is it within him to finally put it ALL together??

Well, it's what he's being paid to produce. I'll settle for any improvement over last year.

i don't care about the steals, give me .300/.380./.450 with 100 runs and 90 rbis i'll be very happy.

Are you taking the best individual totals he's gotten and combining them for one year? Not asking much, are we?

There are 119 milion reasons for asking for PRECISELY that.

It's posts like Mex17's that turn me off to fantasy baseball and the fans
who count, calculate, and determine a players worth to a team solely on
the numbers. Yes the numbers are important, but cherry picking and com-
bining years and then stating that player X owes the team those stats be-
cause of what he's getting paid makes my eyes bleed.

Hey Carlos, be an all-star - that's what we got ya for - is sufficient for me.

if those are your expectations of beltran, then you are commiting the same folly as the mets did when they agreed to pay him 119 million dollars.

This sounds like the OLD Steinbrenner theory;
I'll pay decent players good money (or good players top money) and then expect that the money will turn them into what the salary imagines them to be. I'll then bitch and complain when that magically doesn't happen.

After all, Beltran is making more money now than ever before so there's no reason why he can't set or match his career highs in every category at the same time because of it
... or is there?

In fact, I'm thinking of overpaying for my next economy car so it will have a better chance of competing on the NASCAR circuit.
