From my SABR chapter's listserve:

Subject: Possible Donation of Baseball Library

I am looking for advice on where's the best place to donate my baseball library. I am in the process of compiling a list and expect 400 - 500 titles once I'm done. They run the gamut from the 1950s to present and include biographies, histories, media guides, yearbooks, statistical digests, fiction, collectibles, etc. Mixture of hardbacks, softcovers, and paperbacks.

I know of the efforts of the San Diego chapter and the San Diego Public Library. I am on the East Coast and would prefer to donate them close to my Virginia home. It would be great if anyone could tell me of other SABR chapters that might be setting up baseball research libraries.

If it is not possible to donate them with SABR, then other non-profit groups will be considered.

Thanks,

Tim Copeland
We have a society, librarians, our own individual collections in multiple meda, and lawyers. All we need is you know, New York office space and the funds to maintain it.

You know, housing a Mets research library at Opus 40 would work.

I thought of that. I imagine the collector would care.
