Here is Baseball America's list of players they think might be taken in the Rule V Draft.

I guess they don't think too highly of the players we were afraid we might lose. (McGinley, et al.)

Casey Daigle, rhp, Diamondbacks -- Solid year at Double-A, got a ton of ground balls in the AFL and led the league in saves

Better known to some as Mr. Jennie Finch.
Let's pick him in the draft and get her as a 2-fer.
It'll certainly spruce up our wifey thread (it won't be hard to find a shot) plus she can lock horns with Anna in the competition for most media-friendly wife.

I'd be surprised (perhaps pleasantly so) if the Mets bother with any Rule 5 dicerolling this year. But who knows? They 40 has a few slots free ... no?

Before the draft came along and changed these rules in the 60s, crappy teams like the Mets would carry as many as 5 freshly signed ballplayers on their rosters all year long in order to avoid losing them; today's Mets are too scared to carry a minor-league vet.

Wasn't Eric Valent a Rule V pickup?

Valent was plucked from the Phillies during a minor league version of the Rule 5 draft. There are AAA & AA versions I believe.
The mini versions work in a similar way to the main one but the eligibility and keeper rules differ slightly.

I thought Valent was part of the Major League phase. We went north with him despite him having an undewhelming spring and being nobody's radar.

Nick Ungs did well in the AFL, despite the slugfest season it was this year.
