Exciting! Jason Bay, back tomorrow night. I assume that Valdespin will be sent down.

Edgy MD Jun 04 2012 09:08 AM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
I think they 'd sooner farm out Sateen than Valdespeen, as sending down Jordany leaves Joshie as our backup shortstop.

seawolf17 Jun 04 2012 12:15 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
This is now two games in a row where they've given up a run. Suddenly I'm really worried about the pitching staff.

metirish Jun 04 2012 12:16 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Four game sweeps, how rare?
Gwreck Jun 04 2012 12:21 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
A few times a year. In 2011: Mets swept a 4 game series in Cincinnati Were swept at home twice in 4 game series - by Colorado (April) and Washington (September).
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 04 2012 12:21 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Four game sweeps with a no hitter in 'em? Rarer.
Lefty Specialist Jun 04 2012 12:26 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
This has the smell of a late-inning bullpen gift to the Redbirds, though.
Nymr83 Jun 04 2012 12:30 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
It would be very disappointing if we look back on this, a season in which the Mets spent almost all their offseason resources "improving" the bullpen, as a potential playoff team ruined by the bullpen.
Edgy MD Jun 04 2012 12:35 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Don't worry about the bullpen. Egbert's fresh.

Boy, a lot of fatalistic loser talk in this thread already. Who here believes we can't score a few vs. this Cardinal bullpen?
Benjamin Grimm Jun 04 2012 12:46 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Another run scored, but I like that Terry has stuck with Gee so far.

This coulda been worse, you babies. Two big whiffs by Gee.
TransMonk Jun 04 2012 12:49 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
I'm glad he got to clean up his own mess. Now we need 3 more runs and some scoreless frames by the bullpen.
Ceetar Jun 04 2012 12:49 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
still a third of the game left for the Mets. 3+ runs? no sweat!

Lefty Specialist Jun 04 2012 12:50 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |

Well, the Cards will probably get two whacks at the Mets bullpen as well. Glad to see Lohse out of there, though.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 04 2012 12:51 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
God, it's been a while since we had a pitcher who used the up-and-in fastball effectively and consistently. I'm not sure anymore that Gee is the guy who surrenders his spot when one or more of the young'uns crash this pitching party.

Hairston has become Mr. Clutch with the bombs!
HahnSolo Jun 04 2012 12:59 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Just back from a meeting. First base open, Quintinilla on deck, and Matheny let a lefty pitch to Hairston?
Lefty Specialist Jun 04 2012 01:02 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Time for the Jon Rauch late-inning cheap run.
Frayed Knot Jun 04 2012 01:02 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |

Yup! Rottino was going to PH for Quintanilla had it come to that. Plus, Matheny had no RHPs warming in the pen.

TransMonk Jun 04 2012 01:20 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
The offense continues to battle. A base hit away from tying it up.
Nymr83 Jun 04 2012 01:20 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Huge double for Niewenhuis, come on Torres!! Motte up in the bullpen I'm sure for Wright
Nymr83 Jun 04 2012 01:22 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Torres at least gets a run in and here comes Motte to fave Wright with the tying run at 3rd.... I'd love to see a balk or wild-pitch right away to take the pressure off :)
Gwreck Jun 04 2012 01:22 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Needed a hit there from Torres, not a sac fly.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 04 2012 01:29 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Sometimes, David eats the b'ar. Sometimes, the b'ar gets David to line right to an outfielder.
Edgy MD Jun 04 2012 01:30 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
What we kinda need right now is Baxter, strange to say.
Gwreck Jun 04 2012 01:32 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Duda and Murphy are plenty capable, no?
Ceetar Jun 04 2012 01:34 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
they'll pitch careful to Duda. he'll walk. Murphy will hit his first homer of the year. but first they have to not allow more runs.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 04 2012 01:39 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Sure he can. Y'know, assuming he doesn't swing before Motte releases the ball.

he's The Man right now
batmagadanleadoff Jun 04 2012 01:41 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Nice move by Matheny to bring in his top reliever in the 8th inning with the tying run on third w 2 outs and Wright and possibly Duda due up.
Edgy MD Jun 04 2012 01:42 PM Re: IGT 6/4/12 - Mets v. Cardinals |
Two guys left on the bench. Valdy becomes the pinch-runner maybe if one of our umberhulks gets on base. So this may all come down to Satin.
