Johan Santana, who has allowed an average of 3.5-hits in his last two starts, leads the Mets into battle for the final game of the series at the Thunderdome. Jeremy Hellickson starts for the Rays. It's a business person's special, 1:10 EDT.

I thought Jordanny would score on that double to right by Wright, but he held at third. I guess the Mets don't like to score until there are two out. Duda batting. One out, second and third.

Does a run scored when a sac fly is caught for the second out count as a two-out run? I would imagine it does.

I would guess it doesn't. I think they go by how many outs there were when the pitch was thrown, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Would like to have seen a run or two there just to remove any notion the Rays might have about coming back in this game. Four runs is nice, but still to close to hoping. Particularly with this pen.

Hard to describe but.. Pop to shallow right. Murph goes out, Duda in. Duda gives up early like he seems to do a lot, ball looks like its gonna drop in for sure as Daniel slowed...and at the last second he reaches out and snow cones it for the out.

Pen was actually fine today (and all series) until Batista to start the 9th ... but that's kinda been the problem, they seem to take turns as to who is going to suck that day. Even Frank-Frank, who along with Rauch was in for most of the drama, went: K - Easy (but screwed up) grounder - BB - K, all with two inherited runners.

Which is why you should be reluctant to change pitchers if you don't gotta. You find a pitcher who's getting the job done, ride him like a wild stallion until he throws ya. Using five pitchers to get four innings --- that's ass, right there. One of those guys is going to have his underwear on backwards by pure chance. At least one. It's not because you're a bad manager; it's just demographics.

Just swimming at work these days... which is why I took this job in the first place. Having said that, I forgot they were playing until the 6th and then was getting too lousy a signal on my phone to listen when it finally slowed down. Sweeps are good. Being done with the DH is better. Let's play actual baseball.
