It's funny. I think of myself as a regular here, and I've been around since the 2007 season. Five years. But I'm just now getting to post #1000, which puts me way behind all sorts of people who I remember seeing join, including AG/DC. Remember AG/DC? It's been fun. It's made rooting for the Mets in the hard core Yankee country of north Jersey a less solitary pursuit. It's turned me into a better fan. So, anyway. My first post ever was an attempt to answer this trivia question: Among players no longer active who have had at least one season with 100 RBIs, who has the fewest career RBIs? I guessed Sixto Lezcano, and I wasn't even close. The answer given as correct, Butch Hobson, was much closer. But still wrong. - What's the correct answer? - In 2007, Butch Hobson was in second, but he's since dropped to third. Who took over second place?

Morgan Ensberg is indeed the man who moved into second, dropping Butch Hobson to third. Still looking for #1.

No, though Ludwick has a lot fewer than I would have guessed. Our champ, like Hobson, broke in with the Red Sox. He is younger than Hobson.

I'm the former Mendoza Line. The post count includes Chad and Mendoza. No right answers so far. Tatis was on his way to passing Hobson but screwed up by having a decent Metly career. The answer was never a Met. Getting offline and on a plane soon. Or so I hope.

so i found a guy whose one seaon accounted for about 36% of his career rbi. he never played for the sox, though he did get his 100 rbi in the nl. i wonder if he's the guy... he's got WAY fewer career rbi than hobson. like, 90 fewer. OE: and i found another national leguer with even fewer; his big year accounted for over 40% of his career rbi. OFE: i'm up to 5 players with fewer career rbi than morgan ensberg. two of htese players have fewer than 300 career rbi. another player has two years with more than 100 rbi. whosoever could they be? note: i might be missing a few.

My guy had 292 RBI. Not an old timey guy. Younger than me. Someone who'll make you slap yourself in the head and say "Yeah, whatever happened to that guy?" Also, according to Wikipedia, holds the record for most home runs for someone born in New Hampshire. mm, did you find someone with less than 292?

I looked up the answer and it's someone I never heard of. Granted, I was not paying a ton of attention to MLB during this time period, but still.

272 is the lowest i found. never ever heard of the guy. (110 in '45) OE... also got a 282. (100 in '53) game over. 170. (101 in '34) now that i think about it, this one sounds a little familiar. an old-timey 286 (102 in '21) a super-old-timey 253 (114 in '94) and finally, an ancient 270 (109 in '87) i think that's all of 'em. totally missed the guy from the early 1990s though.

170 career rbi for a guy who had 100 in a season is so absurdly low, that there are no players currently active who have driven in 100 runs in a season and who do not yet have 170 career rbi. should he manage the feat, lucas duda could conceivably turn the trick, provided he did not exceed 107 rbi this season. he currently has 40. jason kipnis has a real shot as well, as he also has 40 rbi this season, but only total for his career. no other young players appear (on rapid scan of the league leaders) to be on pace for 100 rbi having not yet had 70 in their career.
