Who was the greatest secondbaseman in Major League history to ever don a Mets uniform, without achieving all-time Met status. In other words, greatest keystoner in MLB history, who played for the Mets (no matter how well or poorly), not named Alfonzo.

Fangraphs REALLY likes Randolph, to the extent that he's an eyeblink behind Alomar for career value. But, then, a lot of that value is in fielding (UZR), so it's pretty dependent on what your personal exchange rate is for that currency.

Gimme Spits McGee, who's about as good with the bat as Kent, but somewhat better in the glove department, and has more basepath value.

Baseball-Reference really likes Willie too. Probably turned a helluva lot of DPs.

Well, that and the fact that he was a winner all his life.

Sure, but they're extracting their opinions purely from numbers.

I really had to scrap to find anything resembling a panel of eight high end secondbasemen who came through town. Teufel? Really?

You got guys who primarily played second as Mets, but didn't really earn their points there during their career, like Jeffries, or you got guys like Juan Samuel, who didn't make even a token appearance at second for the Mets. And neither put up that much career value anyhow.

Short and third will look better.

What, you don't think 'Winner' is part of BB-Ref's sabermetric calculations?
Then explain why Derek Jeter's 'Most Similar' is Meadowlark Lemon!
