Ruben hitting leadoff for the first time since his return from the DL. Terry also not shy of late about putting Davis and Duda back to back.

I like that lineup a lot. If Davis and Duda are mashing, that lineup can be downright scary.

Tonight is game #81...I hope they end the first half with a bang!

I just had this vision of Tejada playin short for the Mets for many years and doin a good job, ending up with Met career numbers that will rival the great Ed Kranepool himself. Nice at bat there. Made Worley work. And Murph with the TRIBOOM. Nice

I'm going to say that the Mets are playing this one for Bill Emswiller of Walpole, Massachusetts. I only knew Bill from Facebook (Mets fan, Letterman fan) but he once went out of his way to meet me when I was visiting Cambridge. He passed away yesterday after a brief illness. I looked at this timeline and his last status update was on Sunday. It read "Lgm".

So let's go Mets... win this one for Bill.

Expected Duda to score there. And Niese with the big hit! 2 ribbys to boot. Wow, replay shows Thole safe there at third. damn.

Wow. Another inning where they ran into two outs (Tejada didn't do anything wrong and Thole looked safe). Imagine how many they would have scored if they let the pitcher get them out.

They've had runners thrown out at first, third and home. Get someone at second and they've run for the cycle.

Re: IGT, Independence Action, NYM vs. PHI, 7/3

Sending Tejada was the right move IMO.
Thole is going on his own in his case. That one was a little more questionable and then he further screwed things up by sliding too early to where he lost all his momentum.

For Bill!

Second time in a row that a nice start by Niese gets a bit lost in the shuffle thanks to a big day by the offense.

We'll notice. Phils feed just said Niese has handcuffed the Phils all night. I like that. Just saw a replay of Tejada's leaping catch. Yea, you're right, WOW.

Not only that, but GKR are doing their normal stellar job tonight of providing both timely commentary and insightful analysis of the team at the halfway mark. Without the brainless drivel made popular by ESPN and FOX on their broadcasts.

Meanwhile, Muffie with another extra base hit. 11-1 good guys.

Yeah he was off the bag but you rarely see that unless it's a LOT more blatant than it was and I suspect most of this board would be howling if that kind of call went against us.

My thinking on that is that he wasn't doing the standard "straddling" of the base. He was out in front of second, toward the runner. Odd play.

Re: IGT, Independence Action, NYM vs. PHI, 7/3

One of the replays showed that the throw pulled Utley pretty far off the bag. That's prolly what the ump saw.

When I saw it real time, I thought "That is a textbook example of the 'area' play." But I thought Utley would get the call.

With each hit he gets, Murphy's defense is looking better and better.

Re: IGT, Independence Action, NYM vs. PHI, 7/3

Good game. the Phillies were pathetic all around, and ultimately it ended up being a fairly boring game, boringly awesome though. Ruiz hit a home run (so much for my fly balls will become outs theory. ) so that shed all hopes of a shutout. Mets scored but ran into some outs, but quickly made sure that didn't hurt them.

Crowd was a record crowd, but sucked for the most part. random wave in the 5th. stopped clapping for two strikes when the PA stopped (umm..why'd you think we were clapping? morons..) Couple of Phillies groups but they didn't really have much to get excited about.

Daniel Murphy had two chances at a cycle, but didn't get it. added 2 more RBI on a double though.

Mets win! David Wright got MVP chants after his home run and during his next AB. halfway through seems to be a good point to start that. Was tracking him and Ruiz all night because I'm silly like that. Maybe he'll pass him one of these games.

Then we got all fireworky. The theme was 5 decades as it's been all year. they played mets highlights from each decade and then a couple of minutes of explosions set to short clips of popular songs from that decade. Last bit was the Johan No Hitter. I tried to get some pics of it but it was too bright and my viewing angle was bad. The moon was up there but mostly obscured. I enjoyed the fireworks this year, thought they stepped it up a bit, but my wife disagreed and was annoyed that they didn't jive with the music at all.
