You have to wonder if being the designated pie-facer is what kept Turner around.

Maybe somewhere Kramer made a Rotini Rottino to go along with his Fusilli Jerry

Re: Memories of Vinny Rottino

He was claimed by Cleveland today.
The journeyman starts a new journey.
To make room for him, the Indians released Chris Schwinden.

Some people say it's disappointing, or overrated. But really, you can't go wrong with layered prosciutto and fontina, interlaced with five-year stints in the upper minors and simmered at low heat in a garlic sauce. And when you factor in the neverending breadsticks and inobtrusive-to-the-point-of-forgettable clubhouse presence, the Rottino is by far one of the Olive Garden's best values.

There are about 5 posts in the Getting Rottino thread on the Scout Indians board. (signup required)
Here's the first one:
Well we claimed him, I dont know what is worse. Is it his record 32 yrs old - .188 lifetime major league average. Is it that as a right handed outfielder he immediately moves to among the top of our outfield prospect list.

I don't what's wrong with you douchetards, but home-run hitting lefty smackers who can play 5 positions are good things to have around, and I'm sure the Mets are cursing their luck they they fumbled one away.

Good point. But Vinny bats and throws right handed.

Lefty-smackers. He left that hyphen out, but yeah. This guy came and he gave without taking.

And we sent him away.

Re: Memories of Vinny Rottino

Hit his first home run in Johan's no-hitter tuneup against the Padres.

(Seemed worth offering an actual memory of Vinny Rottino.)

Re: Memories of Vinny Rottino

Hit his second one two days later --- a two-run game-tying jobby off Cole Hamels.

For a week or two there, he was Ike Davis' platoon partner.
