Tom Seaver Jerseys

I'm going to be in the market for a Tom Seaver jersey next month, but I don't particularly love the two designs that are available on Mets.com. Are there any better Seaver jerseys out there?

Like, authentic-ish, or gimmicky? The Mitchell and Ness ones seem like the best ones out there, in terms of material/detail accuracy (like, the fabric heft and weave feels pretty accurate to the touch, even).

Then there's stuff like this. Failing that, these guys do great work with custom jobs; they may be able to do something for you, if you're feeling more made-to-order (and they're okay with lightly flouting MLB trademarks).

Ebbets Field Flannels might do great work, but they're not licensed or authorized to sell Mets jerseys. If authenticity is your thing, then like Leiter said, Mitchell & Ness is your best bet. M&N's also your your only bet for vintage looking Seaver jerseys that bear a very close but not perfect resemblance to the jerseys he actually pitched in. But be wary of buying M&N's from online third-parties (e.g. eBay); that market's flooded with defective and shoddy third-world knockoffs.

The grey Mitchell and Ness is the best that I've seen so far.

I think I'd probably love a current authentic Mets jersey with Seaver 41, though, if one exists. But absent that, I'll likely go with the M&N.

You can order a current authentic with anything you want on it, from the Mets online or brick-and-mortar.

But yeah, that grey is pretty.

Thanks LWFS - I'll keep that in mind.

I'm not into jerseys, but that grey road Seaver jersey pictured above did make me drool a little.

I think folks need to raise each other's game. Somebody shows up at the park with just a hat, ask where his jersey is. If you see someone with a jersey, but wearing it open as some sort of jacket, roll your eyes a little, and maybe give a disappointed snort.

Got the jersey and hat? Good! But ask your fellow fan where his pants are if he's so hardcore. And glove, and stirrups, and spikes. We've got to have the highest standards. When folks finally start coming out to Citi Field appearing as if they're ready to play, it's up to you to study their thighs for the telltale imprint of the hem of their sliding pants under their uniform pants. I mean what kind of show are we trying to put on here? We've got to represent.

And we need to do impromptu cup checks. I volunteer Lefty Specialist for that.

Or maybe folks just need to lay off judging what other people feel like doing and wearing. That's a concept!

Come one. Really? You read judgment there?

I own this one from Ebbets Field Flannels...but mine has a zip-up front which I think is much cooler than the buttons.

And this one (without the anniversary patch) that I picked up at Citi last year...

I rarely, if ever, sport either one although they always tempt me when I look in my closet.

This^. I got the Seaver '69 home jersey up at Cooperstown many years ago and it's my favorite jersey. I wear it once a year on my birthday.

Re: Tom Seaver Jerseys

I don't know if this is made to the same specs as mine (I bought that 25 years ago) but it looks close. Mine doesn't seem as white, and also I paid quite a bit less at that time. I do remember tho how I debated with myself for hours before I bought it cause I thought YIKES!, this is expensive. After much thought I decided I just had to have that jersey.

I know - that cream color appeals to me a lot more than the white (especially at that price).

I believe it's the same one, with the only difference being the lighting.

I have this one! I reserve it for only the most special of occasions.

The M&R jerseys used to be affordable, then is seemed like they doubled in price one year to something like $200.

I think LWSF is correct. The '69 Seaver M&N is somewhat similar to what they are wearing at home this year, and it's supposed to be "off white".

This is from wikipedia:
On November 16, 2011, the Mets announced new uniforms for their 2012 season, as part of the unveiling of their 50th anniversary plans.[13] Among the changes included the removal of the black drop-shadows that had been present on Mets jerseys since 1998. The off-white pinstriped jersey, introduced as an alternate in 2010, becomes the primary home jersey while the plain-white jersey with blue placket and sleeve piping, first introduced in 1997, is now the home alternate.
