If you have either to spare, please consider a close friend and coworker of mine who was upended while riding his bicycle this past Saturday. The driver/assailant remains unidentified and at large.

My bike is my main mode of transportation, so this scares me everyday. I just bought a helmet for myself as a Father's Day gift to my step-dad after not having worn one for years.

Thanks guys. My friend has been upgraded from critical to serious and is interacting, to a limited extent, with family members. We remain optimistic.

Sorry, I just saw this, but I'm glad to hear your friend is getting better. I hope and pray for your friends complete recovery. Sad that someone could hit and pedestrian or cyclist and simply keep driving. I don't know how one could live with such a thing on their conscience.

Thanks all. Bill continues to please doctors and loved ones with his rate of improvement. No word on how much longer he'll be hospitalized or when he'll be allowed to have visitors.

He is doing well. He came out to our company summer picnic a week and a half ago and was able to have a lunch and catch up with the rest of us. He's on a long road to recovery but he looked and sounded like his old self. He's hoping to return to work before the calendar year 2012 ends.

My friend continues his recovery. He is now back to work, part time from home and 1-2 days a week at the office when his wife is able to drive him (he had seizures this summer, so he must by NYS law wait six months before he is allowed to drive).
