Really, Young's not part of the problem. Until tonight, Young has been solid, with four straight "Quality Starts" (during which the Mets have scored 9 runs total), and allowing no more than three over any of his seven starts.

Come on. You can't dump on Sandy like that. I don't know who anyone expects to join the team when pitchers go down, but big league starters, as always, are in short supply. Sandy's not the one losing a division over Brian Lawrence or signing Oliver Perez to big contract. And this inning has just been great.

Having your starting SS get hurt on Sunday and not being able to decide who you want there by Friday is just plain weird. P.S. especially when your AAA team is only like 10 miles away.

Didn't look too swift going after Wright's double in the 1st inning. Mainly I was just pissed off at the backup's backup's backup SS making a run-saving play with 2 outs in an inning just one inning after the backup catcher, who's only in there because the starter knocked up his (meaning: his own) wife, hits a 3R HR.

What Z said. I like the look of Edgin as much as I did during ST. Darling's analysis before the Chipper HR suggests that the kid might have been done in by Thole's pitch calling there ("Might be a nice place to double up on the fastball... Chipper was locked into the offspeed the last two go-rounds, might be sitting on that slider here..."). The patience-- or rather, planned takes-- from our lefty power sources did the Mets in a couple of times with runners on; Duda, Ike, and Kirk all took middle-in fastballs at least once each during middle-inning RISP situations, only to end up fanning/making weak contact on worse pitches.

This may have been the most poorly played game I've seen all year. I say that now only because all those games we lost via atrocious defense earlier in the year have been erased from my memory. But, Shit!, was there any guy our pitchers didn't go to a 3-ball count? Even the ones they didn't walk got 3 ball counts.
