are what the Mets have to take for you not to start trading the pieces. If we're OUT OUT OUT the tradable assets that we should be flipping I reckon are Byrdak, Hairston, Rauch, Young and depending on where you stand as to his defence/offence capabilities going forward, Murphy. There's nobody there (maybe with the exception of Murphy) who's going to bring anything like a Wheeler, but if there's one thing we've learnt this year it's that having a bunch of guys able to come up and give you SOMETHING from the AAA club does matter. (We rode hot hands for the first half pretty well) I'm saying if they don't get 3/6 they should work the phones very hard.

Mets should be sellers , 5.5 back in the WC( 56 teams above them)......9.5 in the NL East.......it's not happening.Of course trading the likes of those mentioned won't yield much like you said.

Little point in moving anybody or anything if the price isn't right. I imagine opportunities don't tend to dry up as the deadline approaches. Rauch needs to prove he's healthy anyway.

Hasn't allowed a run since June 23rd against the Yankees. 1 run. I don't know that it's worth moving these guys for minor league roster filler, which is mostly what you're getting for them. Just roll with it. Even if you don't put much stock in them making a run they could still buy some pieces here and there, that may have more long term value. It's not as easy to do obviously, but it could happen.

Well, sure he hasn't allowed a run since 6/23, but that's six innings, with a vacation and some drained knees in between. I imagine some teams may want to still look at him.

I'd be selling now...but I imagine Sandy will stand pat. Or worse, he'll trade for Ramon Hernandez under the guise of trying to make the team better. Ugh.

"Buyers" have a figurative "Playoffs/Championship Or Bust" sign on their franchise's figurative bus marquee. "Sellers" have a figurative "Everything Must Go" sign in the same place. We're in neither position. Asking questions, open to offers, and willing to pull the trigger on a deal that makes sense for this team, weighting short-term AND long-term needs appropriately-- that's where this team needs to be. I suspect it's where Sandy is, at present.

We don't have pieces to trade, Holmes....(other than he who wears the 3rd prime number....and if they didn't trade "he wore the 4th prime number" last season they won't trade him either.)

of course we have pieces; mediocre pieces but pieces nonetheless. there are teams in a pennant race that would like to add a Byrdak, Rauch or Francisco to deepen their pens, or a Hairston, Torres or Cedeno, to give their lineup some depth. Your not gonna get much, but if you can get an A-ball semi-prospect, its worth moving vets over 30 on short-term deals. Collecting prospects is a numbers game. The more you accumulate, the more likely you'll develop a player of value. Of course, i'd like to move Bay and Santana too, to free up cash for next season, but that's highly unlikely.

I think either would be tradable, unless you're including coaches and then no.

Byrdak is definitely a very tradable commodity when he's only been asked to handle lefties he's been very good.
