Predict the homerun call he will use for Ichiro Suzuki --- the one he is currently working on right now even as we post.

Re: Sterling

One of these days it's going to get so bizarre that they're going to cut him off in the middle of his broadcast.

"Itchy-Itch makes that pitch his BITCH!! Close your mouth, Suzyn, you'll let the flies in. That's number three on the yea... OUCH! Ladies and gentlemen, there's a hook somehow emerging from the wings trying to grab me. If... you.. can just... hold... "

Re: Sterling

"The Ancient Mariner" is taken, right? Jamie Moyer or Edgar Martinez or somebody?

Besides, would Sterling really incorporate a nickname that acknowledges a player's identification with another team?

After they leave Seattle maybe..

Bad announcing aside I've always though Sterling was a decently aware baseball guy, not as stuck on the Yankee-ego thing that he's so good at cheerleading as they're PBP guy. At least, the little I've heard him interviewed. But that might not jive with the theme of Yankee broadcasts to acknowledge the guy. Ichiro is probably more famous than most of the Yankees (in terms of people who know who he is)

Re: Sterling

Far be it for me to suggest that baseball broadcasting should solely be the province of sonorous baritones, but to my ears, it's when Waldman opens her mouth that this scene goes from goofy but innocuous to gratingly offputting.
