Who are the only major leaguers who appeared in at least 250 games for both the Mets and the Astros? Who are the only major leaguer pitchers to have started at least 50 games for both the Mets and the Astros?

Staub is the easy one for batters. I don't think either Ryan or Scott started 50 for the Mets before they were Astros.

Wow. I'd have bet if he didn't qualify it was because he played too few in Houston. Those 239 seemed like a lot more, and I wasn't among the Kaz haters.

Jerry Grote?

Only 103 games played with the Colts/Astros.

The Colt .45s all rookie lineup from their 9/27/63 game against the Mets: the only time a Major League Baseball team started nine rookies.

The Colt .45s' All-Rookie Team
Back row: Brock Davis (LF), Aaron Pointer (RF), Jimmy Wynn (CF)
Middle row: Glenn Vaughan (3B), Sonny Jackson (SS), Joe Morgan (2B), Rusty Staub (1B)
Front row: Jay Dahl (P), Jerry Grote (C)

Best Mets/Astros trade ever (Mets POV)
New York Mets traded Tom Parsons to the Houston Astros for Jerry Grote on October 19, 1965.

Worst Mets/Astros trade ever (Mets POV)
New York Mets traded Mike Scott to the Houston Astros for Danny Heep on December 10, 1982.

Without Duda, there isn't a runner on second to try to score on that play. Shoulda brought Bay in as a defensive replacement.

maybe. Bay's not exactly rangy either. Thole probably nabs the runner at second and it wouldn't have mattered.

Re: IGT 8/26 Hou @ NYM: Unwatchable Still

THOUGHTS ON THE GAME!!!!

1 - I believe that's the Mets first walk-off win since sometime in the Carter administration, although I'll have to check on that
2 - Ike has been the entire offense in two of the last three NYM wins. That 2R HR v Washington that they won 2-0 and now this one
3 - I had no problem letting Hefner bunt in the 8th and then try to close it out. Didn't work out is all
4 - Obviously even a mediocre throw from Shop-Vac gets Altuve stealing.
5 - But he makes up for it with the block of the plate!!!! Haven't seen one of those for a looooooong time, Met games or otherwise.
6 - Putting someone in for defense for Duda is a thought but his spot was also sked to hit 3rd that inning. You really want Bay there instead?
7 - The accurate throw by Duda makes all the difference there so he gets points for that and points for what's gotta be the first NYM OF assist in like 3 months
8 - Still would like to see it lower just to give the infield the option to cut it off (not that they would have done that here). Time is what matters on those throws, not distance.
9 - Parnell threw 18 pitches there in the 9th inning but I don't think had even one swing-and-miss. Not a great sign
10 - If we didn't score in the 9th with the 3-4-5 hitters up I was going to be in a very sour mood because I thought that was our best chance and maybe our last best chance.

Bonus Thought!!!! - That was so much fun I'm giving the entire team the day off tomorrow!!!!

The answers are:

Rusty Staub
Nolan Ryan
Mike Scott
Carl Everett
Pete Harnisch
Jeff Kent
Ray Knight
Jose Vizcaino
and
Tim Bogar, who I thought was the toughest of the answers, and who appeared on what has to be the oddest cover in the history of Mets scorecards.

Re: IGT 8/26 Hou @ NYM: Unwatchable Still

Defensive replacement does his job and it don't matter where he hits.

That gif ceetar posted looks like Davis brought his fists down on top of Murphy's head and the plate was too crowded for Murph to get out of the way.

Re: IGT 8/26 Hou @ NYM: Unwatchable Still

Great performance by Hef. Bummer he didn't get the win. I would have had him in for the 9th, but if anyone reached then Ida pulled him. Shorty sticks with him a tad too long IMO. I know the pen sucks, and even figured theyd find a way to screw Hef out of a win (if we did it my way), tho he did get to dig that hole himself. Duda....he should have made that catch on the double. It wasn't an easy play but he was soooooo slow getting to it. You get leather on that you gotta pull it in. Props for the gun down at the plate. Great to get a walk off, and two homers from Davis. Good game with a tiny dose of suckage.

Re: IGT 8/26 Hou @ NYM: Unwatchable Still

Statistics cannot measure Ike Davis's true value. But here's one: He has become the second Met to collect 20 home runs at Citi Field, trailing Mr. Wright's 30 in the young history of the ballpark.

Top 10 Citi Field Mets HR Leaders
1. WRIGHT 30
2. DAVIS 20
3. Pagan 15
4. Beltran 14
5. DUDA 13
5. Reyes 13
7. MURPHY 10
8. HAIRSTON 9
8. BAY 9
8. Francoeur 9
