Eliminated

Houston has lost 90 games and the calendar hasn't even flipped to September yet.

Another NL Central team is next worst. The Cubs have 80 losses...but should hold on another week or so before being officially ineligible for postseason play.

Colt Stadium in Houston, nor either of its Astronymous successors, will host postseason baseball in 2012.

The Cubs players are shining up their golf clubs and join the Astros as officially eliminated from the post-season.

So no playoff baseball at West Side Park or its successor, known variously as Weeghman Park, Cubs Park and Wrigley Field.

The Brooklyn Cyclones lost to Hunson Valley last night, 2-0, and were eliminated from the playoffs.
They were the last remaining Mets minor league team in playoff contention.

The loser list is getting bigger. Add Colorado, Boston, Cleveland and Minnesota.

Amazingly, the Mets are still alive for the second WC spot. That will end soon.

No playoff baseball at the spiritual descendant of onetime wigwam League Park in Cleveland -- which still exists!

Like Target Field, Metropolitan Stadium might as well be a mall for all the use the Minnesota Twins will get out of it in a couple of weeks.

Except "Met Stadium" is a mall now.

Think how many Rockies fans would've jammed into Mile High Stadium for playoff baseball.

Re: Eliminated

Fans crowded into Braves Field to watch the Red Sox in the 1915 and 1916 World Series, borrowed by the city's American League entity because the National League had greater seating capacity.

Nobody will be crowding into Fenway Park soon.

Grateful? Hardly, but the Phillies are most definitely Dead following tonight's walk-off loss to the Marlins.
