SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, AUGUST 2012

The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for August 2012 is R. A. DICKEY. This is R.A.'s second time as Player of the Month in 2012 and his third time overall. It's also his ninth time as Pitcher of the Month, tying Johan Santana for the most Pitcher of the Month awards in Schaefer history. R.A. has now won the award in seven of the last eight months. (His record-setting six-month streak was broken last month by Jon Niese.) Dickey was 3-2 in August with a 2.00 ERA in 45 innings and six starts. It was his complete game shutout on August 31 that put him ahead of runner-up Jon Niese, who also had a strong month, with a 2.61 ERA and a 3-3 record in six starts and 41.1 innings. Third-place finisher Ike Davis was the leading position player in August, slashing .287/.370/.517 with a team-leading 5 home runs and 14 runs batted in.
The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is a second-time winner, JON RAUCH, the first Mets reliever to win twice in 2012. Rauch had a 0.93 ERA in 14 games (9.2 innings). He had no wins or losses, but did have two saves.
The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for August is RONNY CEDEŅO. This award is perhaps more quirky than any other, especially in August, a month when very few points were awarded for position players who were not in the starting lineup. Nevertheless, Ronny Cedeņo earned more such points than anyone else, so he has earned the right to be immortalized on a retro 1972 baseball card.
